Why Some Online Radio Streaming Doesn't Seem to Work Well

It seems that the streams of some online radio stations don't connect or don't stay connected. I have visited a lot of public radio stations and listened to their streams and often, they will drop out and reconnect unexpectedly. By contrast, Tune-in and some of the other pass thru services seem to always connect and manage to stay connected. Is Tune-in and other services better able to shake hands with my possibly out of date browser or is the problem not with me and instead, with the stations themselves, or somewhere in the middle?

Current best practice for a speedy streamlined web experience

After reading numerous articles recently about how much extra bloat loads on most webpages, and getting frustrated at slow loading speeds for content on most sites I visit, I'm wondering what the current best options are to swap this for speedy surfing, especially if I'm happy to have a mainly text-only experience? Cookie Problems with Twitter

I have software that I can set to do certain types of cleaning each time the computer restarts; delete temporary internet files, empty recycle bin, etc. I can also set it to delete cookies but I don't do it frequently because whenever cookies are deleted, specifically, the functionality on my Twitter account drops, i.e. I can't type in the comment box, I can't see new interactions and I can't see who is or isn't following me. I have to beg the company to do something (which they may or may not do over time) and eventually, functionality comes back. I've tried different browsers whenever I delete cookies and the same thing happens. I haven't noticed if I'm having problems with any of the other social media I use. Why is this happening and can I do anything to avoid it?

Help with GoAnimate?

My daughter loves to make cartoons on GoAnimate.com. But it is an incredibly cranky site on Chrome on her Mac, often freezing, and always incredibly slow. Is it just a slow site? Would it be better on a different browser? Is there anything I can do to speed it up? Are the student or professional versions faster? Is there a better site to make animations on? (She's 8.)

Why am I getting multiple blank pages with my browser?

I am currently traveling. When trying to visit my bank online, multiple blank windows begin to open faster than I can close them. This is happening both with safari and firefox. All this is happening before I sign in to my account and because of this I am not logging on. I find this somewhat alarming. This has started occuring only recently. Does someone reading this know what could be happening?

My browsers have ADD

How do I get my browser(s) to stop back tracking? When I use both Firefox and Chrome on my office computer, the browser will automatically flip back to the previous page (as if I hit the "back" button) after about 30 seconds. It will actually keep doing it until it gets back to the first page I opened in the browser. It doesn't happen with all web pages (Gmail and Metafilter seem fine), but it's particularly a problem with media sites (e.g. local newspapers, the Atlantic, Good Magazine). I mostly get around it by holding 'ctrl' when I click a link so it opens in a new tab and can't back track. But it's a pain in the butt. Is there a way to stop this?

Can I make Chrome appear Firefoxy?

I like to watch a lot of streaming video especially for sports games. I usually use the Google Chrome browser. But some sites' media players say they only work with Firefox or IE and won't even give me the chance of trying it out in Chrome. With Firefox 2.0 (did not happen on 1.5.) when I return to the previous page via the back button, I am always sent to the top of the previous page regardless of how far I had scrolled down prior to jumping to the next page. Help, my browser's resizing images!

Hello all. I have a problem that on some sites that hotlink images directly to me, the images are coming to me resized. And I'm not talking about the automatic image resizing option. [more inside]

Why has my Firefox slowed down?

Why has my Firefox slowed down? It started a few day ago. Sometimes it takes several minutes for a page to load. Some only partially load, then stop. Some don't load at all. Not every page is this way, but I'd say about 20% suffer from one of these problems. IE is zipping right along though. I did a virus check, ran Spy-bot and Ad-Aware and cleaned up my registry. Yet the problem persists. Oh, I'm running 1.0 and XP Pro.

Why can't I subscribe to RSS feeds in Firefox?

I am having a bit of trouble using RSS on Firefox. Whenever I click on one of the little orange RSS boxes, I am taken to a page which states, at the top, "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below." followed by a code listing that I presume is the document tree mentioned above. Am I supposed to do something with that?

I suspect there is a real simple answer to this that will make me look like a dork, but I can cope with that if it results in figuring this out.
