I need a better browser for my Mac.
I use a MacBook Pro 17". For the past year, I've been using Safari as my default browser. I like it swell except that it crashes all the frickin' time. I've installed SAFT, which allows me to restore my browsing sessions, but still -- it's a pain. Last weekend, I moved over to Firefox in the hopes that things would be improved. That's not going to work. What's with the delays for nearly every action? Ugh.
(No extensions installed.) I don't yet have Leopard, but am willing to upgrade if Safari 3 offers a marked improvement in performance. What can I do to improve my web browsing experience?
(Session restore is a must
. Undo closed tabs is nice.) [more inside]

Is there a way I can block a particular site in my browser such that I cannot visit it for a certain amount of time (e.g. three weeks). Also, is there a way I can block the port that connects to aim so I can suspend that service for a certain amount of time? I am using a Mac and the Firefox web browser. [more inside]

I'm looking for a way to place a browser window into a PowerPoint slide so that I can access web pages during my presentation and have them updated in real time.
I've played around a bit with LiveWeb, which has behaved a bit erratically, and am hesitating before plunking down money for something like T-Dog's PowerPoint Web Browser. It doesn't need to have terribly robust browser capabilities - an address bar, forward/backward buttons and a "refresh" button should suffice.
Anyway, I'd love to hear people's advice - the simpler, the better; I am a confirmed non-geek. If it matters (and I assume it does), I'm running Windows XP and PowerPoint 2003.
Thanks in advance for your answers to my first-ever Ask MeFi question!

Is there a Firefox extension that changes the way my browser is identified? I know that Opera will let you mask the browser identification so that a site you visit thinks you're actually running Firefox or IE instead of Opera...now I just want this same capability in Firefox. I can't seem to find one in the Mozilla Add-ons
site. [more inside]

I'm reading through some instructional material regarding the French language from About.com, and am running up against some inconsistencies in the way accented characters are being rendered in Firefox. Some pages render correctly, and others do not - the accented characters are replaced by question mark characters (these pages render correctly in Safari). Why would there be a difference between pages like this?

My web browsers (FF 2.0 and IE 7 on XP SP2) have stopped working (kinda). I have to click on links over and over again to get the browsers to respond. When they do finally go to the page, they usually load half of it and give up. This started while I was still on FF 1.5 but seems to have gotten worse. [more inside]

I remember finding a web site for that generated screenshots of web pages as they appear in Apple's Safari browser. Well I'm a Mac user and I just found out my web page is broken in IE. I need something that will generate screenshots of my site as it is seen by IE. (I can't use Internet Explorer for Mac because it is even more broken than its Windows counterpart.)

Why won't my browser open from links embedded in programs? When I click on links to the web (e.g. "check for updates") in, say, Skype chat, or Zone Alarm, or CCleaner, or DeepBurner nothing happens -- no browser or tab pops open to the corresponding site. Firefox is my default browser and works fine on its own.... Thoughts or suggestions?

I've downloaded the Sibelius Scorch sheet music plugin for both Firefox and IE. When I purchase Scorch sheet music, Scorch only plays the first page, even though I've purchased the entire song. The back/forward page buttons are grayed out. I've downloaded several songs from different Web sites, and I always get the same result. This happens with both browsers. Any ideas?
