Do you use the Google Chrome browser? Try this: Open the history page, and search for a term. The resulting list will include not just the pages that have the term in their page's title or URL; it will also include pages that have the term in the actual text. This indicates that somewhere, Chrome is actually storing the text of all web pages you visit. (This is backed up by the fact that the search-results page shows you snippets from the results.) So here's the thing: I want to see the whole page of cached text, not just snippets. [more inside]

I find that I am consistently misspelling a certain proper name when sending mail to a friend who bears that name. I need a way to force the spell check built in to Firefox to flag the improper spelling. This is the exact opposite of the Firefox personal dictionary, which lets you prevent the spell check from flagging uncommon words you use that you know are spelled correctly. I've Googled extensively, and cannot find a solution. Can anyone provide an answer? I am running Firefox 3.5.9 on Ubuntu Linux 9.10 (Karmic Koala).

I'm running Firefox 3.6 on my Mac (OS X.6.2). Yet when I try to load extensions that work on versions 3.5 & higher, they say I need to upgrade my browser. One extension had the following error message: "______" could not be installed because it is not compatible with your Firefox build type (Darwin_x86-gcc3)." Also, youtube is claiming that I'm running a version of Firefox that will soon be incompatible with their website. What gives? Why does everyone think I'm running an older version of Firefox, and how do I fix this?

Two computers at work: my desktop, and a DVR-capture computer in another workcenter. I can "ping" the DVR computer from my desktop using the ipconfig command with no problem. Accessing it from my browser, however, does not work. Tried both Firefox and MS IE. Using the same IP address (http://xxx.xxx.x.xxx) in both instances, but no luck connecting via browser. Our internet guy claims that there's no firewall issues. So what's the problem - why can't I connect to the DVR computer from my desktop? Much obliged for any assist, MeFites!

I'm using Firefox 3.5.1, and annoyingly often I can't scroll up or down or sideways on a page by using the space bar or the appropriate arrows or even the page up and page down keys. I end up having to use the sliding do-hickey on the right of the screen. It seems to happen more frequently with some sites than others--the NY Times is one of the worst. The Metafilter sites are seldom if ever a problem. This occurred even before I upgraded to 3.5.1. If anyone out there has a convenient fix for this, I'd greatly appreciate learning about it. Thanks.
