I periodically wipe Chrome's browsing data (usually when it starts feeling sluggish). The window that pops up shows the 'cached images and files' size. It's almost always at 638 MB and I've never seen it go higher. Why 638? Is it truthful? Is it arbitrary?
Sometime yesterday, something changed with my hover-over text in Chrome, where while it used to bring up the attributes wherever my curser was, now if displays them instead at the top of my screen. I don't know WHY I hate this, I just know that I want to change it back and can't discern how. Macbook Air running Yosemite. Thanks!
The font size of links on my Chrome browser has shrunk to teeny proportions. See here for an example. [more inside]
Every time I visit Facebook, my Firefox history tab inexplicably lists "Boingo | the worldwide leader in wi-fi software and services." When I click on it, it takes me to my FB page. I'm totally confused why it's there or how to get rid of it. Any advice?
This is the dumbest thing and I can't believe I'm wasting a question on this. Help me get a browser shortcut on my Note 3. [more inside]
Now that SPOI's Youtube Options has gone subscription-only, what options are there for downloading Youtube videos in Chrome or Firefox? Userscripts.org seems to have finally bitten the dust, and the scripts it had were out of date.
A few days ago I was searching for an email in my Gmail inbox and entered the email address of the person I knew it was from -- let's say email@example.com. I don't know what I did wrong during this very mundane occurrence, but ever since then "firstname.lastname@example.org" has been aggressively filling itself in on google-related search boxes in Chrome, preventing me from using Google effectively. How can I make it stop? [more inside]
Chrome Browser: When I'm in dev mode and have overrides enabled (for example: "iPhone - iOS 6 / 640x980 / Emulate touch events / CSS media: screen"), Chrome throws a black box over the upper left corner of the web page with status in red text (for example: "Overrides: User-Agent / Device Metrics / Touch / Media") It is omnipresent and unnecessary. How do I turn that black box off? [more inside]

Seeking replacement for Echofon for Firefox. This little Twitter client sat unobtrusively as a button in your browser and would pop up a handy, no-frills pane to check recent tweets. Unfortunately, it no longer works. I'd love something similarly lightweight that integrates with your browser (I use Firefox for Mac), though if a browser-integrated client is impossible to find, I'd welcome any suggestions for good, simple Mac-compatible Twitter clients. Thank you! [more inside]
On Android, is there a way in any of the available browsers to turn off honoring <meta name = "viewport" content = "initial-scale = x.x, user-scalable = no">? I'm sick of designers that don't want me to zoom in on their preciously designed mobile site.
A friend of mine is a blogger in the US. We're thinking about a blog post in which he would use the Scandinavian letter Ä a few times ( & a u m l ; ). My concern is whether his primarily American readers will see the letter on their screen, or something entirely different. [more inside]

Please help me thwart the evil Adobe empire so that I can read the Valve Handbook for New Employees (and other .pdf files) on my Macbook again! Recently, Adobe Reader told me an updated version was available. Obviously delusional, I went ahead and updated my perfectly-working 9.4 to the new version 10, and now I can no longer view pdf documents in Chrome (18.0.1025.163), my browser of choice. What now? Some websites I use log me in automatically (Facebook) with full access to the site. Some automatically log me on, but require PW confirmation if I want to do something that may potentially compromise my security (LinkedIn, Amazon). Some websites demand a login each time I access the page (banking/trading sites; some of which save my login ID, none of which save my PW).I know precious little about this stuff. Cookies, is it? I've been browsing through a website whose pages are set up to be viewed as indexes/directories with no HTML. Many of the files listed are image files, and I'd like to be able to see them without having to click on each one individually. Is there some kind of add-on or plugin that will automatically show thumbnails of all the images on the page or am I stuck clicking on each one?

I'm going crazy trying to adjust my blog template. It seems that when I change the browser window size, the body, sidebar, and header all move independently. If I make the window wider, the right edges of the sidebar and header do not align. If I make the window less wide, the whole sidebar crunches into body text (fine) and eventually gets kicked off the side by the body (not fine). Ideally, I'd like them all to line up, move/scale together side-to-side, and not get kicked around. [more inside]
