How to cope with a broken arm?

My girlfriend just broke her arm a few inches above the elbow (spiral fracture). She's currently in a splint and will possibly get a plate and pins in a few days. She works at a desk job, which she will return to after a week or two of rest. What can we do to make life easier (tips, special equipment, etc)?

My hinkPadhas aproblem with i's keyboard.

I just bought a used Thinkpad T61 and the e,t, and space bar keys work intermittently. The keyboard is reasonably clean and nothing is obstructing the keycaps underneath. I have taken out the keyboard and reseated the keyboard connector. Is this just a bad keyboard or should i be worried about something else? (os is linux/ubuntu)

Blackberry Bold Keyboard Quirky Problem - Any Advice?

I just bought a Blackberry Bold 9700, and unlocked it (so there's no warranty). I have used it for about a month or 6 weeks, and following a trip to the beach where it did not get wet, the buttons are not responding properly. Example: the keyguard button on the top left of the phone locks keys but won't unlock keys. The End Call / Power button ends calls and turns off the phone, but won't turn it on. All the keys work but pushing two buttons at once cancels both requests. I've re-installed the software (I think) and left it in rice overnight and both did not help, except for an hour or so when it randomly started working and then stopped again. Do you have any ideas what's wrong with it, and if I am able to fix it myself? (I have a T5 screwdriver if I need to crack it open). Thanks in advance! :)

Unplugging my refrigerator for 24 hours fixed it. Will the fix last?

My side by side refrigerator/freezer stopped cooling, so we unplugged it and went to buy a new one. On a lark I plugged it back in 24 hours later, and now it functions perfectly. Anyone know if the problem is likely to return (or what the problem might be?) I vacuumed the back-bottom compartment where the compressor is located, but there wasn't much dust there so I doubt dust was the problem.

Microwave - (turntable tray + wheels) = Fine long term?

This is likely a dumb question. :) But I have this little microwave. Both the glass turntable and the plastic wheel thing are broken. The microwave itself works fine and heats things up. Short of dripping stuff down into the motor enclosure where the wheel+turntable would normally sit, can I use this microwave normally long-term with no worries? I'm assuming that the only difference is the food would be unevenly heated (I could manually turn), but I just wanted to make sure the turntable motor business wasn't connected to anything else. Replacements would cost more than the microwave at this point.

Broken CFL in 2-year-old's room

Recommendations for wounded yet likeable men in books.

Book recommendations: Recently I have discovered that I really enjoy a certain type of flawed character in television shows. Think Gregory House on House or Dr. Cal Lightman on Lie to Me. Help me find examples in literature so I can continue my current obsession when I shut the tv off. [more inside]
