I'm in the UK, my mom is in Central Indiana. I would like to recommend her a good broadband package that will let us chat over Skype, etc. So nothing too underpowered. Her phone is currently with AT&T, and she would prefer to keep things as simple and non-expensive as possible, and do it through them as well, if that's a decent course of action to take. Just switched to AT&T "Elite" Internet service from Comcast cable modem in a cost saving measure. AT&T promises download speeds of 3-6M Bps for this service (as opposed to 2-3 for their Pro service, which is a few bucks cheaper), but I'm only seeing a whisker above 3. Is this normal? Anything I can do? [more inside]

SanFranciscoWiFi: I currently have DSL service with AT&T. It came with a DSL modem/wireless router thingy from 2WIRE. Can I replace the 2Wire? If so, what are my options? Please speak to me as if I were a child because in the area of networking, I am.
