A rugged, semi-professional flap-top bag or briefcase or whatever.

I need a sturdy flap-top briefcase or messenger bag for holding a 15" laptop, books, notepads, and small personal items. I am considering the Saddleback thin briefcase, but the prominent role of Bibles in the product demo videos on the Saddleback site is giving me pause. I'm also wondering if a similar price/quality ratio can't be found at a lower cost. [more inside]

Does this work bag read feminine?

I would like to replace my husband's deteriorating work bag (which I gave him many moons ago) for our upcoming anniversary . I like this nylon one, but fear it will read as being made for a woman. I have past experience with this seller and she will customize a bag. If this does read as feminine, what makes it so? Thank you.

50% hip, 50% banker briefcase for my sweetie?

I'd like to buy the man in my life a briefcase or messenger bag, so he can stop hauling his work papers around in old redwells and plastic bags (!). Looking for something that's polished, yet somewhat stylish, and should also be comfortable for commuting by foot and public transport. Budget is up to $200, but could go a bit over for something really great. Ideas?

Choices on Aluminum attache case

My husband mentioned today he needed to replace his black leather briefcase/attache case with an aluminum one. Of course, with Christmas just around the corner I think this would be a good Christmas present. My question is what is a good brand, best place to buy online price wise and what color would be best as far as black or silver?

A useful bag for putting things in.

I know I'm not the first with this sort of question, but bear with me. I need some sort of messenger-bag/briefcase/laptop-case thing for school, work, travel, cycling, and general out-and-about purposes. Emphasis on durability, value, and versatility. Anybody have some good recommendations? [more inside]

MacGyver would use this bag

Looking for a messenger/briefcase type bag, that is taller than it is wide. Saw this Saddleback bag, but specifically I'm looking for something with separate compartments. Something like one big compartment and one small compartment. As in, there would be a compartment that would fit a laptop, and another compartment for miscellany. Here's the kicker: I would like the compartments to be able to be opened individually. E.g. I could open up and remove the laptop, without opening up the other compartment. [more inside]

Man Bag

Man Briefcase/Satchel: I'm looking for a bag which looks similar to a Mulberry Elkington. Can anyone recommend me something similar which won't break the bank. I'm looking at around £100-180/$150-240. I've had a look around and have been mainly unsuccessful because either the leather is too dark, big or it's far outside my budget. Room for my 13' Macbook Air, pad of paper and small folder is plenty. Shoulder strap and nice oaky brown coloured leather is a must. Thanks Hive!

A small suitcase for my mobile office?

So I bought my first (two) suits from Brooks Brothers recently, and while waiting for them to tailor them to my specifications I've been looking for a briefcase in which to tote my mobile office, since I obviously can't carry a backpack or use a "fanny pack" with formal wear, and I'm trying to move away from the backpack aesthetic even with my business casual attire. The complication is that my mobile office is far smaller than most people's (pictures: 1, 2, 3, 4), and I'd rather not buy a case much larger than what I need; even a small laptop case would be too big for me. Further specifications within. [more inside]

Dropped my planner in a puddle, this has got to end.

I'm about to buy my first briefcase, and I'm looking for advice. I don't need to carry a laptop, I just want something that will help me juggle a couple books, my planner, loose sheets of paper, a 3-ring binder, a newspaper, and my purse as I go between home, work and work-related appointments. It should be easy to carry, professional looking, good at organizing these things, and maybe it can replace my purse during the work day. What are the best features of awesome briefcases? What should I be wary of?
