Photo Organization with Visual Browsing Capability? Or Just Tag It All?

I want to improve my digital photo organization at work, and I don't care about anything in iPhoto except Events. Unfortunately, I really appreciate being able to visually browse Events as a central database of every photo upload ever. It feels like there's no easy visual browsing in the Adobe suite, is this true? Should I just get better at using keywords in Bridge, or is there something magical in Lightroom that I don't know about? [more inside]

Playing Bridge Online?

After doing some research, I can't seem to quite find an answer to this. A friend and I would like to play bridge together online, and would like the two other players to be computer-generated. Anyone know of where we can do this? The sites that I have looked at seem to be all live players, or else you can play against the computer alone.

Nursing someone after oral surgery: how to not screw it up edition

A relative of mine is having the entirety of her teeth replaced by what I think is called an implant-supported bridge. I'm caring for her the day of the surgery, but 1) I'm not super-awesome, or anyway, super-intuitive at nursing people 2) I'm not at ALL familiar with this type of procedure 3) Said relative is very ashamed of the situation and thus VERY vague about the actual terms, details, and recovery situation. She...tends to be a little in denial about stuff, I tend to take her statements with a grain of salt. So I would appreciate anything you all can offer in terms of advice, or in procedure-specific tips and information. [more inside]

Bridge club/school in SF

Can anyone recommend a friendly bridge (the card game) club in San Francisco? I wouldn't mind taking an intro class to brush up, since my knowledge of both conventions and strategy are pretty slipshod and semi-self-taught. Ideally there would be a critical mass minority of younger folks (let's say <30) around.

Who named Ghost Ditch? And when?

This past weekend I drove from Los Angeles to Tucson via Interstate-10, and took to noticing the names of the various ditches and washes that are spanned by the highway out in the middle of the high lonesome desert. There are a lot of them. Ghost Ditch, Taro Ditch, Larry Ditch, Stubby Wash, Fornat Wash, Itta Wash, Edom, Mccoy, Rollie, Bula, Sutro, Calotus, Esso, Arco, Teed, Turala, maybe a hundred between the ditches and the washes. The names don't seem to refer to nearby municipalities (there aren't any) or other geographical features, and are clearly part of the National Bridge Inventory. How were these 'waterways' named? Who named them? Were they named before the freeway required infrastructure to pass over them, or during the construction process, or when the NBI was implemented, or after the fact altogether? Bridging a Cisco router thru a Verizon FiOS Actiontec router to improve WiFi speed: worth the trouble and, if so, how?

My FiOS speed is a blazing 75Mb/s thru a wire but only about 30-35Mb/s wireless. Verizon tells me that this is all I can expect through their Actiontec modem/router. Can I improve this WiFi speed by bridging my Cisco EA4500 thru the FiOS router? If so, can anyone provide me with a step-by-step way to re-configure the FiOS router to allow for the bridge? All of the resources I can find on-line are confusing and don't cover my specific situation. All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Does this painting sound familiar?

Help me identify a painting I saw, loved, and forgot... A group of "bohemians" are eating/drinking/sitting under a bridge... there may or may not be a bonfire... it may or may not be night... I use the word "bohemian" because it has stuck in my mind... I don't know whether that's part of the title, whether the painting is German, or whether it just struck me as abstractly "bohemian" - I had just become an artist :> - I saw it in a museum, most likely in NY, San Francisco, or London - sorry for the slight reeds of info - anything sound familiar to anyone?
