Breast cancer treatment with special needs child -- help?

I'm asking this for a friend who was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. She's getting monthly chemo starting next week for 4 months. Following that will be radiation for 6 weeks and then Tamoxifen. She has an 18-month-old son born 3 months premature who cannot stay in daycare (he's immuno-compromised and has short gut syndrome, so the pediatrician has ruled it unsafe until he's at least 3 years old). We are looking for resources to help with child care during her treatment and recovery. [more inside]

Breast pumping rights in California?

Is there a right to breast pump in private businesses in California? There is a right for breastfeeding in CA Civil Code S 43-53, but it doesn't mention breast pumping. If there is, what is the best way to lodge a complaint about being disallowed from breast pumping?

Breast lump, no insurance, no money, looking for options.

Having found the lump a year ago this June, it took me until today to find the courage to try doing something. Many of the sites I found said to go through my local health department, so I finally worked up the courage to walk in today. They had no idea what to say, and no longer offer any program that would help. I walked out with a pamphlet for a clinic in another town that they think "might" have a program to help with a sliding payment scale but they weren't even sure about that. [more inside]

Cancer sucks

Last week we found out that my mother has breast cancer. This isn't her first battle against cancer as she had colon cancer six years ago, and so far mom is being very matter of fact and strong. She is going in for surgery to remove it tomorrow and then will start the whole radiation/chemo regiment in the new year. Any good last minute, easy to find, supplimentary gift ideas for her? Bilateral symmetry is only accurate to a first approximation

A large portion of the women I know (myself included) have breast asymmetry - one breast is larger than the other. I know this is unremarkable and pretty normal; humans aren't actually that symmetrical when you look closely. But I was talking about this with my girlfriend this morning and we noticed that for both of us, it's the left breast that is larger. Is there a species-wide skewing of left vs right breast for which one tends to be bigger? Does it follow handedness? Do men have noticeable asymmetry (presumably scaled smaller)? If it skews left, is there some whacked out evolutionary advantage of having the extra bit of padding over the heart?

The 6 letter curse word ,starts with C and deadly(literally).need your advice

It's my first question here, ... and it's kinda heavy... I met a girl/lady. She 's the sweetest person, but she's got a lump inside one of hear breasts. Size of a big plum, except longer. She moved in to CA, has no health insurance and believes that holistic medicine alone will do the trick if it turned out to be a breast cancer... She would probably prefer - no chemical, no doc bs, better to live quicker happy, rather than slower but with pain kind of path, but I 'm worried and scared, maybe more than she is. I've heard that mammography and some other scan is needed to evaluate and that it's a sort of financial black hole. What to do folks? I need to get her checked, but both mine and her finances are at all times low/0. Please, any input will be greatly appreciated.
