I had both invisalign and braces because invisalign did not correct all of the problems, especially the 2 upper front teeth so I had to wear braces for about 3 months. I was done with braces about 2 months ago and I've been wearing a set of retainers every night. I've noticed that my teeth tend to shift pretty quickly that it feels tight when I put on my retainer every night. Also, there's a tiny gap between 1 of the front teeth and the retainer. It's almost as if the tooth cannot touch the retainer. Is that normal? This is a picture of how my teeth look currently
. They do not look bad but one of the upper front teeth isn't very straight and it bothers me. Those of you who have had experience with braces, what do you think I should do? If I go back to the orthodontist, is it likely that I will be charged?
Thank you for your time!

I would like to make a custom brace for my wrists and some supports for my aching feet using my 3d printer. What are some good places to get started in approaching this project? Is there a site with some existing models? Has anyone on MeFi done this? Should I just start from a 3d scan of my various body parts and build from there to see what's comfortable or should I just take apart my existing splints and start tweaking parts? [more inside]

I'm a 27-year-old voice over artist / actor and have been looking into getting Invisalign to fix some weird angles on my top teeth and crowding on the bottom ones. But is it worth it? Opinions from Invisaligners and the general tooth-viewing public alike would be much appreciated (pics inside.) [more inside]

I've been thinking about getting braces. 80% for cosmetic reasons, 10% because they feel very slightly annoying, 10% possible health benefits.
My free UK NHS dentist says I don't need them, it's an unnecessary risk and the treatment can go wrong. My private, fee paying dentist says it's a great idea if I can afford it, it's good for health too.
The money isn't an issue, but I really don't like the idea of spending a year or more in the docks.

I am dressing up as Ugly Betty
for a friend's birthday party. I have everything sorted except how to create some fake braces for my teeth. I don't want to cause any damage to my teeth or gums, nor do I want to be impeded from drinking (it is a party after all!).
The only option I have been able to find so far involves paper clips and dental wax and appears to be somewhat painful looking. Any other ideas for how to make fake braces for a night?

There is a spot in my lower teeth where there is a sharp(ish) bend between two molars. The arch wire in my braces keeps breaking at that point: 4 times in 4 months. It usually lasts about 4 days before breaking.
I pointed this out to my dentist (he is not an orthodontist) and he said we just have to keep replacing it each time because I'm not ready for a thicker wire. I've completed 4 months of having braces so far. During one visit, he said not to worry about the disconnected part because another area in my mouth was more important, and left it disconnected for about a month (it's my very edge tooth, so the remainder wire was thrown out). Now it's back to breaking-time.
I know little about having braces, but this seems way shady to me. I've already spent a lot of money, but should I switch to someone else? Or is this sort of thing normal?
Thanks for your insight!

His bones are all fine, but his on-the-small-side mouth is equipped with two less than the regulation 32 teeth: one pre-molar missing upper right, and one pre-molar lower left. (His last two milk teeth are still there, in their stead.) My question is: what are the typical options - or else what's a good resource for reading up on them? [more inside]

I have seriously messed-up teeth that make me absolutely despise the way I look and continue to make me increasingly unable to eat pizza, sandwiches, or any other food whose consumption requires front teeth that come within a quarter-inch of each other. A visit to the orthodontist has alerted me to the fact that I may require maxillofacial/orthognathic/corrective jaw surgery ($$$$$$$$$$$$) in addition to braces ($$$).
While I live in the U.S. and am lucky enough to possess fairly decent medical and dental insurance, I don't have very much money to throw at the problem. What should/can I do next? If you've had a similar experience, what did/would you do? [more inside]

I've always been unhappy with my teeth, and I want perfect, straight teeth. Here's a picture. http://i49.tinypic.com/w86a6b.jpg
I want to know the likely cost of the procedure, and also what option, (braces, veneers, ??) would be the best route. If braces are indeed the best option, I would have to choose the invisalign braces. I plan on going to the Dentist soon, but I just want to know what to expect. Thank you, kindly!

My orthodontist wants me to get rid of 4 premolar teeth before giving me braces. Googling tells me this is very common, but is it just an easy fix for them, or really a basic part of the process? [more inside]

So, I need some help with getting my teeth fixed. I know that there is bonding, veneers, braces, invisalign, retainers and whatnot.. But I need some comparisons. My question is two fold: What is the best option for my teeth; braces, invisalign, bonding, veneers? Second part of the question, what type of professional can I see that will give me an honest assessment? [more inside]
