Is the cultural dislike a briefs a factor important enough to make it worth my while to switch to boxers?

I am in my late twenties and like wearing briefs, though this is frowned upon. Is the cultural dislike of briefs a factor important enough to make it worth my while to switch to boxers? I tried wearing boxers but hated hated the loose sensation. Should I get used to the discomfort for the sake of respectability? (It seems to me that wearing boxers vs. briefs is the equivalent of having a good haircut vs. a bad one. Appearance does matter, though of course I do value comfort as well. That's why this is a dilemma for me.) P.S: I did receive negative comments about wearing briefs and many times at that.

Do boxer wearers have special running underwear?

If your running shorts have an inner pant, and your underwear of choice is boxers, what do you wear when you're running? Manties?

What's the best way for a fellow to secure his privates while swiming?

My fiancee has a varicocele which has caused one of his testicles to be quite long (about 5 inches). He'd like to take up swimming, and we're looking for a way he can wear swimming gear without worrying about falling out. Bonus points for underwear help! We've thought of speedos under swimtrunks, but I worry he'll just fall out of the speedos. Is that a valid concern? Swim trunks don't come far enough down his leg that he'd feel comfortable wearing them alone. He could perhaps find shorts that are just very long, but would just feel more comfortable if his stuff was at no risk of exposure.

Would bike shorts would work well in the water? How about a jock strap? He's never worn one, and we're assuming that it effectively straps your jock. Both of these would be under normal swimshorts, of course. Any other suggestions very welcome.

He also has problems with underwear. Briefs are uncomfortable for him, boxers lend no support, though he ends up wearing them quite a bit. He's got boxer-briefs, but even the ones that come down to mid-thigh lose their elasticity rather quickly, and he ends up just hanging down the side of them anyways, causing a visible long bulge in his pants. Anybody had really good experience with a brand of shorts that keeps your boys in their home?

My boxers are in a bunch!

A question for all equestrian owners and riders... Ok. I've been horse riding for a while, and every time we get up to a canter, my boxers get all scrunched up (my blue jeans too but not as much). This is very uncomfortable, and more than a little embarrassing as I try to unscrunch them after the ride. So after all of that, any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Will getting white-y tight-ies help? I really don't want to wear them, but if they'll help... *sigh* ...I will. Any suggestions? Thanks y'all.

Letting go

How do I get my husband to let go of old boxers and socks? My beloved husband refuses to part with his old, ripped up boxer shorts and socks.

The other day while folding laundry, I discover a pair of his boxers with a hole in the back so big I could fit my head through it. Seriously. I assumed that since there was no fabric left to cover his bum, the boxer were useless and threw them away. My husband then proceeded to fish the boxers out of the trash because they were still “wearable.”

I buy him new boxers and socks regularly to replace the old ones but he refuses to let them go. Every time I try to throw out the old clothes, he digs them out the garbage!

Why does my husband insist on keeping these old articles of clothing? Is there anyway I help him move on or should I accept this as a loveable quirk?
