How much does monthly parking cost at Alewife?

Cambridge, MA's Alewife MBTA station: how much does a monthly parking pass cost? The MBTA's vendor site has all the clarity and customer service that you'd expect-- I need to register and provide a credit card number before they'll tell me the price and I just want a number. Thanks!

how/where do I buy a used bicycle in Greater Boston?

I would like to purchase a beater bicycle. I will use it to go several miles along a maintained bike path to get to a subway station. My ideal scenario: I travel to a location where there are several shit bicycles. I select one of the shit bicycles, I hand someone a smallish amount of money, and I stop thinking about purchasing a bicycle. I don't care if it is a pink bicycle covered in swastikas provided that it works and is reasonably priced. Let's make this happen!

Can I go to an independent garage or is dealer service the way to go?

I'm looking to have maintenance done on a 2.5-year old Nissan (40,000 mile tune-up and addressing a little tire/front-issue that probably stems from my wife running over curbs recreationally). Is a dealer absolutely my best option? If so which one? [more inside]

What's the best packie in the Boston area?

I have lived here for almost all of my adult life and don't know this-- What is the best package store in the Boston area for beer? I want something like Beers of the World outside Rochester, NY and I can't find it: beers from all over the world, and regional beers from the US. I know of some decent places, but nothing that makes me feel like I have just entered Mecca. Lets try to keep it in the 495 Loop, but I will drive further than that if the place sounds really fantastic. Baseball season is here and summer is coming so I am looking forward to some nice beer.

best carwash in metro boston

I want personal recommendations for carwashes in Boston/Metro West. I like the kind where I put money in and get to soap up my car myself. But I will consider other kinds as long as you tell me that they are very effective. (I have been dissatisfied with conveyor/brushless carwashes in the past and I hate to waste money.)

Is my vet gouging me?

1. Am I wrong to think that $110.00 is too much to pay the vet for a 10-minute appointment to look at my cat's eye and hand me a 3.5 gram tube of erythromycin ointment? 2. If the answer to 1 is "yes," can you recommend a good vet near Newton Upper Falls, MA, USA? 3. What's the etiquette for changing vets when you think that your vet is more than competent but you don't want to pay his prices anymore? [more inside]

"Woo! Woo!" tricycle guy

Has anyone in Boston seen the "Woo! Woo!" tricycle guy? I usually expect to see or hear him in spring, and here it is June and I haven't seen him. Obviously, I don't know the guy, but he adds a lot of character to the town and I hope that he's okay and continuing to do his thing. [more inside]
