New boss wants to hire his unqualified friend. What to do?

The company I work for has a new owner. He wants to hire a friend to do part of my job, a part I don't want to give up. This friend is grossly unqualified and downright mean, but the owner is head over heels. Help me figure out what to do. (I don't want to do the job of two people. I'm already extremely overworked. I am aware that life is unfair.) Bunches of snowflakes inside. [more inside]

Use headhunter as well as the boss-approved method to get an interview?

I was contacted about a job with a company by a HR recruiter (not from that company) on LinkedIn. I was aware of this job from the company’s website and also I have a friend who is working at that company in a peer position. That friend said he spoke to his boss, and his boss said I should apply for the job via the company's website, so I did. Would there be any benefit following up with the HR recruiter from LinkedIn anyway? [more inside]

My boss sometimes suggests I work someplace else. Should I worry?

My boss sometimes talks about me finding a different job. I never suggest that I would do such a thing. Is she trying to give me a hint? My boss is the sort of passive-aggressive type who might say things in a snide or underhanded way. She also might care enough about me to give me a hint if my position was going to be eliminated (I'm broke and she knows it). Help? [more inside]
