I need to stop viewing my professional school classmates as boring, unintellectual people. It is making me contemptuous (which is a waste of energy) and interfering with the way in which I approach my schoolwork. [more inside]
I want boring music to listen to. Not even elevator music: hallway music. Dull, faceless corridor music. Cheesy, soothing, soft. Commercial music, the kind of music that men in the 1970s thought would induce people to feel groovy and buy stuff. The music that plays in Animal Crossing while you get your haircut. Ceefax music. Music you'd hear in an old Mad Men episode. Music that just sits there and doopey-doops while I concentrate and get important stuff done.

I have a decent microphone and I like recording audio for Librivox and some language learning sites. I would like to extend this into some other areas. Either reading foreign news, blogs, covering a local issue or any type of suggestion one might have. I have some plans for starting a podcast in the future but for now I would like to commit to recording something and posting it regularly for a while. Can be as dull as the conet project or repetitious as David Lynch's weather reports. Ideally content would be public domain, creative commons, or other permissible copyright.
An earlier poster mentioned this attitude in a thread on boredom and it prompted me finally to post a question that's been simmering a while. I'm super-boring, but not bored -- it doesn't bother me when I'm on my own, but I'm starting to get a complex about it, vis a vis other people. Help me to have any interest, any interest at all! (Or to feel better about not having any.) Novel inside. [more inside]
I'm looking for a list of US cities, preferably one per state, that are largely unimportant but have a high population:interestingness ratio - I'm from Illinois, where Peoria or Rockford come to mind. Think cities which are so uninteresting that it's funny.
I'm really tired of social media; I've grown to find all of it (FB, twitter, etc.) endlessly boring. For those of you who have come to the same place, have you just faded away, or do you leave notes on your open accounts to the effect that "I'm not really here anymore?" Prolly not going to shut it off altogether. [more inside]

The head of a screw under the hood of my car (in this instance, it's the one that attaches the mass airflow sensor to something) is stripped. It's a screw with hexagonal head which can fit a standard phillips head screwdriver. I'm going to get it out, but when I replace the sensor I can't put it back with the stripped screw, I'll need a new one. Is there some standard way to replace these screws with similar ones without going to the manufacturer of my car? [more inside]
I'm looking for a specific artist, or a specific sound. I heard a motorcycle guy blasting music out of his speakers, and it was a sort of rock, not quite arena rock, but something like it. The main description I can think of is "Kenny G Rock" for it was utterly milquetoast and non-offensive and yet... [more inside]
