I am a permanent resident of Canada, and have been since 2010. Between 2010-2012 I lived in New York attending school, but moved back to Toronto in 2012 and have lived here full time.
For most of my departures and entries into the country there are stamps in my passport to show. However, last October and November I took 2 trips to the US entirely by land, both trips were only a few days. I just now realized that upon re-entering I never got a stamp from either trip. I'm worried that there will be no proof of me coming back to Canada and the last 6 months of my residence won't count.
Does the Canadian border keep a record of the permanent residents they let back in? Where can I find this information?

My friend's daughter was travelling to Canada over the weekend. Apparently she was stopped at the border due to some health insurance related issue.
She didn't make it to the hostel she was supposed to stay at the first night, or the volunteer program she was destined for.
She called those places when she knew she wouldn't make it, but she hasn't called home at all, as far as we can tell. And we have no idea where she is right now.
What can we do? [more inside]

I will be crossing the Blue Water Bridge border crossing at Sarnia-Port Huron the Friday evening starting the July long weekend. Anyone know how much of a wait to expect going into the States? Alternatively, is there a place where I can search historical (not current) border wait times? [more inside]

Do to a family medical emergency, my wife and I are probably going to be renting a car and driving from Philadelphia to Toronto tomorrow night. We are both Canadians living in the US on temporary NAFTA visas. Fun complication: Our daughter is four months old and is an American citizen with an American birth certificate. We haven't yet gotten her a passport or applied for her Canadian citizenship.
Should we expect to have any difficulty crossing the border with her, in either direction? Is there anything we can get in the next 24 hours to make things go more smoothly?

We've just acquired a second colocation facility for redundancy and for geopolitical separation of our services (in other words, Canadian customers on Canadian boxes, US customers on US boxes for many pain in the ass reasons I won't get into here.). Our office is in Canada and the second colo facility is in Seattle. What sort of fresh hell will we unleash by taking servers purchased here across the border? [more inside]

I´ve managed to lose my Brazilian tourist immigration card (Cartao de Entrada, i think). It´s two white forms stapled together, which was stamped along with my passport when i entered Brazil at Foz de Iguassu border. What should I expect when I fly out of Rio de Janeiro intenational airport next week? What can I do to sort this problem out?

tingting and the dog are heading out of Canada and back to the US of A, where I grew up. Can my houseplants cross the border? Could they take 2-3 days in the back of a closed U-haul truck? Is taking a U-haul across the border a nightmare? Anything I can do to prep? The Dog papers are all in order. Question submitted to US Customs & Border, but no response yet. Muchos gracias.

Is there a good way to get from Los Angeles to Tijuana directly? Greyhound seems to run several direct buses a day, but I wasn't sure if there was another option (direct - so Amtrak isn't an option). I also have never taken Greyhound on the west coast (used to a lot on the east coast), so I'd appreciate knowing people's experiences! [more inside]

Can I drive in and out of Mexico with just my drivers license? I'm visiting a friend in California and we thought we might drive down to Mexico for the day. However, I have heard that the entry/exit rules have changed this year and you can no longer make the trip with just your drivers license. Is this true? Has anyone tried this in the last month or so? Are they adamant about this or is it strongly suggested but not required? If I manage to get into Mexico with only my DL will I be able to get back out?
