I'm an adult in my 30s and have just been positively screened for Autism. I'm actually really happy, because a lot of things in my life now make a lot more sense. I'm an ex-Leftie who now works as a money man in the UK. I'd like to rediscover Socialist philosophy and ideals. Problem: 10+ years of economic analysis of public spending and government fiscal policy has left me thinking that Socialism is unrealistic, ill thought out, and well, a bit...silly. Help me turn myself around before it's too late! ...much more inside.... [more inside]
I've been Googling and looking through different lists of recommended books (including some recommended by orgs like RAINN) about healing from sexual trauma, but I'm looking for 1 or 2 good books that are reasonably-priced. (Many of these books seem to be out of print and therefore expensive.) This is about an assault that happened to me as an adult, so books about child abuse are out. What I don't want: hokey, religious, new-age, preachy, textbooks, "workbooks" My ideal book would deal with many of the symptoms of Rape Trauma Syndrome, including having "body memories" of the assault. Hope this is descriptive enough.

I'm in an unusual situation and it's proving extremely difficult to change things. Short version: I've been out of work for five years mostly due to severe depression, anxiety, and an abusive relationship, and have been trying to establish myself since recovering with no luck. I'm a bookworm with a degree who seeks an entry-level publishing position, but will take other (hopefully related, but not an absolute requirement right now) positions in the interest of establishing a recent job history for myself. I'm now managing my third startup, having successfully built and sold the first two. Nonetheless, despite my supposed expertise, I often have the sense that I'm totally faking it, completely flying blind. Are there any good books on startup company management? All the entrepreneurship books I've found are exceedingly basic, and focus only on business plan writing / fundraising; conversely, all the standard management books seem tailored only to Fortune 500s. Anything in between? A good book on how to manage a fast-growing (and, this time, non-tech) startup company day to day?
