Wanted: same FF bookmark in diferent folders. When bookmarking a URL, Firefox appears to check if the URL already has been bookmarked in any FF folder in the past. If so, FF identifies the previous folder in the Page Bookmarked popup, removes the bookmark from that previous folder and puts it into the newly selected folder choice. Is there any way to force the same URL to be bookmarked in multiple folders (short of manually tracking down the original bookmark, duplicating it, and copying it to the second folder)? This "feature" seems to be URL based, so it doesn't work to change the name of the bookmark intended for the new folder in order to keep the URL from disappearing from the original folder. Win7, Firefox 8.0.1

I have a LOT of bookmarks for craft tutorials, supply places, etc. Often I can remember what the page of a tutorial looked like but can't remember what it was called, or even sometimes what it was about. ("There was this project that I remember thinking was really cool at the time... the site was really purple...") Is there a Firefox plug-in, Mac application, AIR application, or online service that lets you bookmark sites with corresponding screenshots? Thanks!

data.kluge.filter -- I have many, many Firefox bookmarks. I'd really like to switch my bookmarking system to Zotero, which seems much more powerful. Have you already solved this? Can you figure out a chain of format conversions that will get me from point FF to point Z?

Is there a way to back up Firefox bookmarks as a regular "folder" of shortcut (url) files? I know this is possible in IE - it stores the favorites as shortcut files (or at least it used to, I haven't used it in ages), so it was a simple copy and paste job. In Firefox, the only thing I can figure out how to do is export an HTML file with links to all my bookmarks. This is annoying and useless to me.

My Firefox updated recently and now a dialog box pops up occasionally titled, "Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer." It says, "Please enter your username and password to continue." I have no username or password for Firefox. My computer is not on a network. I cancel out of this and continue, only to have it pop up again a short time later. As far as I can see, synchronization of bookmarks isn't in the help files. How do I disable this?

I am
a del.icio.us power use, and I am trying to use the new Firefox 2.0 which integrates with del.icio.us. I'm having some trouble. First, all of the bookmarks I had stored locally that were in folders seem to have disappeared. Where did they go? Second, because I have soooo many bookmarks on del.icio.us, I have the "Bookmaek synching in progress" bar loading constantly, and it REALLY slows down my Firefox speed.
Can anyone help me find my missing bookmarks? Does anyone have tips on how to use Firefox 2.0 with bookmarks without the molasses speed?

I have been using Firefox for forever. I keep folders with my most used bookmarks in the Bookmarks Toolbar (View -> Toolbars -> Bookmarks Toolbar). I also tweak my Firefox browser to oblivious and back again on a regular basis. Recently, I think something I did make the bookmarks toolbar disappear, and I can't figure out what it was.

Help me keep certain, um, *embarrassing* bookmarks private in Firefox. I'm looking for something that will password-protect or hide some but not all of my browser bookmarks -- in Firefox, NOT in a web-based solution (delicious, Bookmarks Synchronizer, FoxMarks, etc). Sharing or synchronization is not the issue, just privacy on my PC.

Just like that, all Firefox bookmarks (several thousand) gone, homepage set back to this. No apparent viruses. Everything else seems fine. History is still there, and no suspicious websites there (JJill?). I have a back-up of bookmarks from many months ago, but would dearly like to get the later version back. Firefox 1.0 (I know, and today another scare.) Any thoughts?

How do I synchronize bookmarks between Firefox on different computers? I use Firefox on several computers and would like to synchronize the bookmarks between them. If I add a bookmark to one computer (or perhaps 50 bookmarks all over the place) I want to be able to get those new bookmarks into the other computers and in the appropriate folders. When I use the import function it imports every bookmark and folder even if already present. Deletions are not that important, I rarely delete bookmarks.
