You buy a bag of delicious frozen blueberries and empty its contents into a plastic tub which you keep in the freezer. When the last of the berries have been consumed, a light pinkish-red residue remains in the tub. You proceed to rinse out the container, and after a few seconds under running water the color suddenly and dramatically changes to a deep dark blue. Why? [more inside]

My watercooler at work has a hot water feature which I would like to take advantage of. What are the best healthy substantial "meals" that require me only to add hot water?
(Relevant info: At a cafe I used to frequent, there were packets of Bear Naked blueberry oatmeal that were outstanding. Now, Bear Naked's site doesn't list this as one of their products. Does this product still exist? I don't like Quaker Oats.)

U-Pick blueberries on Whidbey Island: I read the the July Sunset magazine (the one with the "Perfect Burgers" cover) in my dentist's office last week. Near the beginning of the issue was a mention of an excursion to Whidbey Island to visit two U-Pick blueberry farms (this may have only been in the Northwest version of Sunset). I don't have the magazine, and I can't find it on Sunset's web site, nor has my googling been successful in finding the farms. [more inside]

My neighbor has many mature blueberry and grape plants. Because he's rearranging things on his property, he's offered me some of the plants *if* I dig and move them myself. Is this possible? Is it practical? Is there some mechanized device that I can rent, borrow, or buy to make the job easier? Bonus question: I just chopped down three youngish Locusts, the largest of which had a trunk maybe six inches in diameter. What's the best way to remove the stumps so that I can plant fruit trees in their place?
