I really like looking at pictures of beautiful/clever/interesting products. What are some frequently updated blogs that feature good pictures of really cool stuff? I'm talking about pictures of clothing, gadgets, prints, handmade goods, kitchen implements...pictures of almost anything tangible, and the featured items don't have to be for sale. [more inside]

I have a book (non-fiction) coming out that combines environmental history with science and food culture. (The book is about bananas; I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link to my Web site, so I'll refrain.)
I've been reading about "blog book tours," where authors work with bloggers to provide interviews, excerpts. or just about anything else relevant to a specific blog's audience. So...I'm asking for people's favorite science (specifically natural science), environmental, and food (food culture and eclectic stuff) blogs. Thanks.

Where are the feminist blogs that aren't superficial and/or tending towards ranty? I want more thoughtful analysis and intelligent discussion than you tend to find on feministing et al.

I'm looking for an easy way for an older, non-technical artist to post a portfolio of some of her work online. A free solution would be fabulous but it doesn't have to be free as she would likely want to register a domain name to forward anyway. [more inside]

Help me find blogs about Hollywood -- BUT (and this is important) about the place, not the industry. I am looking for blogs by and for residents of downtown Hollywood, East Hollywood, Griffith Park, the Melrose district, etc. [more inside]

I have a new community blog that is a place for people in my industry to talk shop. I want to get the word out and have a very inviting stack of business cards that I have collected over the years at industry conferences. Is it appropriate to email any of these contacts and ask them to write/contribute or just tell them about the blog? [more inside]

my wife and I have an emerging business. We were asked by a blogger to provide a sample of our product for review. The blogger initially stipulated that the item would not be returned, and after explaining to the blogger that we were a small company and couldn't afford to give them a sample, we sent it off. well, guess what. in the immortal words of PWEI no deposit. no return.
We have their address, and can badmouth their blog, but what recourse do we have? I've tried reverse lookup to get info on the blogger, to no avail. I don't want to come across as a stalker, but we are talking about a chunk of our rent here....

Quadruple your pleasure! I'm a newly minted green business consultant, and would like your help on four things: finding a CMS or blog system to create a website for my business, finding places where you think a green laptop case would/should be sold, blogs/social networks to get the word out about it, and suggested protocol to approach said blogs/social networks. The social justice non-profit I work for is currently participating in a contest run by Six Degrees. Basically, if we are one of the six non-profits that have the largest unique
number of on-line donations (given to our organization through a specific link) we'll get grant that doubles the money we raised, up to $10,000. (In other words, we need to have the most givers, not raise the most cash.) Can you suggest any socially progressive/liberal/lefty blogs (along the lines of DailyKos or Turn Maine Blue
) with decent readerships that might be willing to plug our group and help us gather donations? The contest ends on Sunday at 11:59 pm, and although we've pushed hard via emails, etc. with our own contacts and member base (we're currently in the top ten), we need to expand our reach quickly if we're going to end up in the top six.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way (and the best script?) to implement a commenting system for normal web pages? I am currently torn between setting up WordPress as a CMS which would provide that functionality or trying to find a script I can add to a page (and there are to be 40 or so separate pages each needing separate comment fields).
