In the not too distant future I will be relocating to Romania (through work), probably for a few years. Before I go, and while I'm there, I'd like to keep abreast of local current affairs and culture. What well-written and well-informed blogs or news sources *in English* should I keep an eye on? (obviously I am hoping to use this posting as a chance to brush up on my very limited Romanian, but that's going to take a while...)

My goal is to keep up with fashion. This is sort of broad, so I'm looking for good blogs and news sources to keep up with what people are wearing, and what people think people should be wearing...or will be wearing, etc.

I'm heading to Iraq in several months and I'm looking for great sources of information on the country. This could include:
- Political, cultural, etc blogs
- Blogs from servicemen/civilians working in Iraq
- News analysis
- Iraqi blogs (they can be English or Arabic - I read both!)
- Backgrounders or historical analysis
Be creative! What do YOU read to find out about Iraq? I'd love to hear about it. Thanks for your input in advance!

What are some good blogs or other news sources concerned solely or mostly with "what the president is doing" (politically; not what he had for breakfast)?
Basically, I'm curious about keeping up with Obama's acts as president -- orders signed, deals forged, initiatives taken, stuff like that.
