How much should an editor of an online publication be paid?

If I want to hire an editor to manage the blog for my ad-driven website, how much should the pay be if it's full-time? What about part-time? Other than creating and managing content, managing writers (and bringing on new ones), and promoting the blog and the site on social media, is there anything else I should list in a online editor's duties? Tips on starting up a science-themed blog

I was convinced to start a blog under my real name, for the purposes of being visible on the internet in a positive light while applying for jobs. Unfortunately, now it's up, I hate it and never want to write anything there. Since my partner is sick of me wailing about it, I thought I'd ask you guys for tips on low-effort ways to post on a blog with a general theme of 'interesting science news'. [more inside]

Need help finding websites similar to Thought Catalog

Are there any blog/writing websites out there that are like Thought Catalog, but slightly more... mature I guess? Without the high-school/college drama or pop culture nonsense. Sometimes I feel just slightly too old for TC's target demographic. :/ But I do enjoy reading short blog posts from a variety of authors. Thanks in advance

Innovative websites as template/model for MFA research community

Save vs. Plagiarism.

Plagiarism! I wrote some articles on my blog, now the ideas are being sold in a book - using specific terms and techniques that make it unmistakable about source or parallel development. No one else has rights to these articles, and no one notified or asked me for permission. What are my options? [more inside]

How can I make a living doing what I love?

How can I make a living doing what I love? My almost-50 birthday is this week. Several years ago I quit my job to start a new career. I still have little idea how to make money from what I want to do. I'd hate to go back to my former career, and I can't imagine who would hire a man nearing 50, who hasn't had a job in years... Why don't I blog?

Everybody's doing it (perhaps by many people who shouldn't?). It would be good for my reputation in a number of my fields to maintain a subject-specific blog (photography, coding, food, etc), but nothing ever occurs to me to be especially "bloggable". This might be due to the fact that I'm acutely aware of how many true experts there are on these topics, and I feel I have nothing original to contribute. [more inside]

Journalist/Political Blogging from, and about, Turkey. Censorship issues?

I'm re-locating to Turkey in the upcoming months (due to unrelated circumstances), and whilst there, I intend on starting, and keeping, a regular blog about current events, human rights issues, the EU bid, and such. Photojournalism, where appropriate - and available - will also be included. So, I suppose I have a few questions. (long post, my apologies!) [more inside]

Are There Any Good General-Topic Blogs?

I've been doing some thinking lately about blogs. It seems that most of the really popular, successful blogs stick to one topic or another, pretty well defined (food, books, politics, celebrities, etc.). Are there any really popular or successful (in the sense of widely-read, or just good to read) blogs that are about a variety of topics, or that take the 'one person's views on a whole bunch of things' model?

What should I use for a blog in my classroom, and why?

Blogging in the classroom. I've decided to set-up a blog for my students this semester. This will be the place for their response papers, writing exercises and a few other tidbits. It needs to have access for 5-10 members, a very easy set-up, free-to-near-free pricing (although I would pay or find the dollars to fund if it was warranted), and very clear posting/linking instructions for the students. Advice on selecting a blogging system needed. [more inside]
