I am too disorganized to blog consistently, but I'm also way too verbose for Twitter. Is there a blogging platform that exists somewhere between these two extremes? Is there a platform that's kind of like Facebook as a blog? Do I want a Tumblr?

I like Tumblr. Is there blogging software out there that can do the same thing on my own hosted space?

I'm starting a project wherein I walk each and every block of every street in Manhattan, at least once, over the course of roughly 2-3 months. I want to chronicle this process of walking all of Manhattan in a daily blog, preferably with a daily picture and some text. What do I call this blog? (And should I use tumblr? And anything else to keep in mind?)

Web-Design-Filter: I am looking for a free (or very cheap) and easy to use Content Management System that I can use to set up a private, dynamic blog, content and community space for multiple users. I would be willing to look at
Wordpress type software bases, but would like to integrate something of the functionality of lifestream systems like
Facebook and
Sweetcron/
Tumblr.
