I teach media arts, and am trying to get my (college) students to post to our class blog, which is at a wordpress.com site. I have invited them all as authors. I am the admin. The students who have never used WP before are posting fine. However, the students who have their own wordpress sites are having a hard time, because when they try to post, they are only given the option to post to their own sites. [more inside]
I'm looking to redesign my personal research site and I'm thinking to use a blogging platform such as WordPress; however, I can't seem to find any good, clean and modern templates. In particular, I would like to add sections for my publications, recent news, scripts I have written, and my upcoming talks / presentations. Does anyone have suggestions for a robust platform and any themes that I could use for the site? Thanks!
I've been a blogger, off and on, since "weblog" first became a word, but the way blogs and communities are built these days confounds me. I miss tight-knit, ye olde internet communities but am no longer sure how they are built or nourished in a noisier, more commercialized web. I need opinions. [more inside]
I am starting a blog using a very simple wordpress template. But, Wordpress cuts off the post so that users see only the beginning. In addition, it is not clear that there is more content to follow. Is this a theme issue? I need the whole post (including photos) to show on the main page. This seems so basic. I tried googling but no luck.

I have a Wordpress blog, and I want to get rid of a large number (200+) of old, junky blog posts. They're clogging up my archives and search results, they get virtually no traffic, and they're poorly done and embarrassing. There is no question they need to go. The question is, should I delete and redirect them, or just noindex them? [more inside]
I have a professional blog hosted on my own domain. Spry is my domain host and I use Wordpress to publish the content. This evening after some time away I tried to log into my wordpress admin dashboard to add a new post to my blog but am unable to log in - the browser just gets stuck on the url and the page doesn't load and shows as a blank white page. I am looking to get a wordpress theme with built-in icons for post types (such as sorbet, but I'm open to using another one to make this easier) to use icons based on categories or tags instead. There is a plugin for this but it doesn't work with the current version of WP and I don't think it's set up to replace part of an existing theme anyway. (It would also be nice if I could customize the color on those bar things too.) Despite my ambitions for awesome blog layout customization, I know very little about CSS and basically haven't coded anything for the web since we all used Netscape Navigator. How do I do this?
I started a Wordpress blog a few years ago and then ignored it soon after. This time around I'd really like to create the best Wordpress site that I possibly can. I'm looking for any resources that would help to achieve that goal -- themes, tutorials, podcasts, etc. I'd also like to learn more about search engine optimization and monetization in regards to a Wordpress site. Suggestions? [more inside]
I'm working on making a magazine blog. I started with a template that is pretty awesome, but I liked the effect another theme used to manage the photo and video gallery. Is there a plugin I can install to achieve this effect or is this hard coded into the template. [more inside]
I have a blog running WordPress with the Thesis theme, and the AddThis plugin. It currently shows AddThis buttons at both the top of a post and the bottom of a post (like this). All I want are the buttons at the top, as they appear now. How do I get rid of the buttons at the bottom?

So I've Googled and checked out the WordPress support forums about this, but I'm not finding what I want. Is there any plugin that allows WordPress to have a function like Track Changes in Word? I'm talking about within a post -- so if I made edits (punctuation, changing words, whatever) in a certain post, someone else could see them and also accept or reject them. Just viewing the "Revisions" in WP isn't cutting it.
I have a frustrating issue with a site hosted on Wordpress. Every now and again - and seemingly at random - I will get a message saying "Resource Limit Is Reached - The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later" when I try and visit my site or dashboard. [more inside]

I'm considering setting up my company's website on a blogging platform. Since I'm a heavy user of Google services, I was considering using Blogger, especially since it is free. (I use it for my personal blog.) However, my partner said self-hosted Wordpress is more flexible and more professional. Is Wordpress truly better than Blogger? If so, what are the main selling points of using Wordpress over Blogger in 2012?
I have a self-hosted WordPress blog in which every post is an image (with alt-text) and a single comment. I'd like to move this material over to a Tumblr blog. The site has two years' worth of material, with about three posts per week. I've done a Google search and it seems there are three methods for migrating WordPress content to Tumblr. All involve exporting the WordPress Blog to XML first, which I've done. [more inside]

This weekend I'm setting up a website for an academic event. I'd like the homepage of the site to have large, clickable progress bars that display the number of posts for each of the subpages (News & Announcements, Blog, Events, etc.). As more posts are added to each of the subpages (posts would likely be sorted and displayed by category and tag), its respective progress bar takes up more screen real estate and the tally count listed on/near it increases. Basically, I want the homepage to look like a giant, dynamic bar chart. Is there a freeware (or cheap) template, widget or piece of code that allows me to do this? [more inside]
