I have a 13 year old Pomeranian with diabetes and cataracts. He can discern light and the absence of light but that's about it. He's been pretty good at navigating his environment for four years now. Certain things would always cause him to flinch, like sharp noises. But recently, about three weeks ago, the flinching started to occur his during walks, and it's more extreme, to the point where I think he is hurting from all the stress. What seems to trigger it is light and shadow. [more inside]

One of my cats has chewed through the cord of these blinds and we need to fix it before we move out in a couple of weeks. The attachment seems to be different from the others in the house which were spring loaded. We have tried pulling, rotating and prying with a screwdriver but nothing seems to move it. Here is a link to one of the brackets holding the blind in place. I've had a look through the other questions but didn't see anything that matched what we have.

My father has been using a plain old phone for decades. I'm looking for video games that I could read aloud and describe as I play so that one of my friends who is blind could participate. We would be doing this over Skype. Ideally, we'd like games with multiple choices and decisions that affect the gameplay or story, less linear games and fairly complicated gameplay. We wouldn't want anything in real time, anything that requires coordination or games where the visuals are essential. [more inside]
