Do blanks provide enough backward motion on the casing when fired to cycle the action of an automatic pistol? Thinking in particular of two different German military pistols, P-08 Luger which has a knuckle action, and P-38 which has a slide action similar to modern pistolas.

Started up a DIY record label with a friend a while back. I'm looking for a rubber stamp that will be suitable for using on a silver-topped CD-R. Our first release was on inkjet-printable discs, which looked great but took ages to produce. Looking at this thread points me towards some vendor choices for the stamp. Anyone tried this method of disc identification?

Firefox opens a blank "(untitled)" tab when downloading certain files used by helper applications such as torrent files, or .smil files which are processed by a homegrown vb app. How can I suppress these blank tabs or force them to autoclose? I thought I saw an addon or greasemonkey script to do this at some point, but can't find one now.

What salary should I expect as a young assistant editor for the monthly magazine of the leading organization of professional _________ engineers? Them: The magazine claims to have 32,000 professional readers across the world with significant "purchasing power." They charge $5,555 for a full page ad (though it drops if you place the same ad multiple times and obvs goes up a couple thousand if the ad is on the backpage or near the front cluttering up the reader's journey to the table of contents).

Me: I graduated college a year ago with a dual degree in History and ________ Engineering; have plenty of on-campus editorial, writing and layout experience; an English minor; and have spent the past year doing engineering work with some freelance writing in my spare time.

Based on the expensive urban location, Salary.com (which doesn't have "Assistant Editor" as an option, so I picked both "Reporter I" and "Communications Editor I"), puts me between 28k (low for "Reporter I") and as high as 75k (high for "Com Editor I").

Is 50-60k too high a hope for me to have, or just about right given that the ideal candidate for this job is a "________ engineering/print media" mutant. Also, among the engineering disciplines, this is typically one of the higher paying ones (i.e. not civil).

(Sorry, Civil E.'s! Some of my best friends are Civils: the jocks of the engineering world.)

I hate lines in notebooks! Where can I find unruled Composition Books? I just want something (anything) that is
1. cheap (under $5. $2-$3 is ideal)
2. side-bound (no top-bound memo pads)
3. not wire/spiral bound
4. has unruled blank pages
5. is approximately letter-sized

Why can't I find it?
Some previous questions didn't lead to anything.

Blank message screen on WM5 Smartphone

Help! Opening any text messages or emails displays a blank white screen on my Cingular 2125 (HTC Faraday) Windows Mobile 5 smartphone. I'm still receiving incoming SMS (text) and email messages. It's still notifying me of new messages, and when I open the inbox (SMS or email, doesn't matter), I see the list of new messages and their first line of text. When I click to open them, though, I just get a blank screen!

The screen is totally white except for the menu bar at the bottom and the header at the top ("Text Messages", battery indicator, signal strength indicator). At the bottom, "Reply" and "Menu" show up, and both buttons work. If I press "Menu" it gives me the normal menu options for a message (Delete, Reply, etc). If I press "Reply", the screen stays white but the menu bar changes to indicate that I should be looking at the Compose window ("Reply" at the bottom changes to "Send", "Menu" has different options). However the screen area is still completely white with no text, lines, etc for me to compose in.

So yeah, incoming messaging works, but when I open any message it's just a blank white screen. I don't have any weird character packs/CE-Star thing going on. I can't trace it back to starting after any specific app I've installed either; it appears to have just started at random this week.

How do you know what to do during sex? I'm 30/f/hetero. Asperger's (but aren't we all). I tend to be very submissive in bed, but mostly it's because I can't think of anything to do. I would love to be more aggressive or even dominant. In theory, it sounds really appealing, but in practice I just have no idea. Books, tv, magazines say that you should just "go with it" and "do whatever feels good". But I end up feeling lost. My mind goes blank, and I focus on the details so much that I am paralyzed. For my whole life, I've had to work hard to learn how social interactions work, and I feel like this is an aspect of that, but there's no place for me to learn it. Unless porn is an accurate representation of sex (which I'm led to believe that it isn't). I just feel like I've never learned how sex progresses. Are there sex scripts? Helpful books? What is the mysterious blank space that occasionally shows up at the top of my Firefox window, and how can I get rid of it? Every once in a while a mysterious blank space shows up at the top of my Firefox window. (This has happened through multiple versions of Firefox, including 2.0, which I just upgraded to.)

What is this mysterious blank space? How can I prevent it from showing up? (Closing and reopnening Firefox solves the problem but is far from an ideal solution.)

How to identifying blank images?

How can I quickly identify blank JPG images from a set of thousands? I've recently converted tens of thousands of WMF files into JPG images. I've discovered that some (<1%) of the conversions failed, resulting in blank (100% white or 100% black) JPGs. I'd like to identify these and re-convert or trash them.

The images are all different dimensions, so I can't just sort by size to find the blanks. It would take forever to to scroll through all the thumbnails to find them, and there's no guarantee I wouldn't miss a few. Is there a free or cheap application out there that would automagically identify those blank images? I've been looking for an image browser that sorts by hue, but haven't found one yet. I've also looked for a tool that could compare images against a control image, but they all require the images to be the same size. I could use a Mac or Windows box for the task.

Webpage disappearing act: My blog's index page is showing up blank, however all the archived pages are there and function perfectly. What's going on? Here's the index, and here's an interior page. Individual entry pages are fine, too.

The index is index.php; there's no index.html to conflict, so that's not it. Where should I look for problems? I've no idea where to start.

What's your favorite online/brick supplier for blank tee shirts? hooded sweatshirts (with and w/o zippers)? baby tees/female-cut shirts? I want to buy t-shirts/clothing items in bulk to print/applique/generally fuck up. I'm primarily interested in the following characteristics, ordered by importance:

* cost (would like to keep it well under $3 a shirt or so)
* low minimum order (like to spend < $100 the first order, preferably $50)br> * quality/cut
* color (should be black)
*assorted cuts available
* suitable for screening (i can't think of shirts that wouldn't be, but you know).

(i love american apparel too, but they're currently priced beyond my means for small projects).

I would love love LOVE to find a source for *used printed t-shirts* that sold in small runs (most of them seem to only sell massive bales) -- but any input you have on places that sell used/vintage t-shirts/clothing in bulk I'd be interested in as well.

i've already checked out most of the online stores that are easily found by typing keywords into google, but I'd like to hear about ones that you've ordered from and have worn. if I can get away with a $3 shirt that just happens to be cut well enough so that it's *almost* comparable to one that costs $6-10, well, that would be ideal.
