I am a terrible IT person

Will switching home ISPs solve my spam problems? I have my own consulting business, and work from home in the East Bay. I have one employee who also works from home, but she lives in SF. I have an issue with my outgoing email when sent from my house (but not my phone when it isn't connected to my home wifi or from my laptop when i am elsewhere): it often bounces back as having "spam content", goes into my clients' junkmail folders, or just disappears. This used to only happen with one client, so I just assumed it was the fault of their IT folks, but now it's happening a lot. [more inside]

How do you get off a blacklist? And how do you know if you're on it?

How do you determine if you are on an employment blacklist? I have an MBA degree, and I have more experience and credentials than most of my MBA class, but I have not been able to get hired, and the only jobs I've been close to getting are at much less compensation than the average for my class. I interviewed for a position, made it past a phone screen, and went through a second in-person interview. I was told that they would get back to me in one week, but less than 1 day later I get a voicemail saying the company has chosen to go with another candidate. It's not the rejection, but the swiftness of the rejection after initial enthusiasm that makes me suspicious. If you are on a blacklist, how can you find out? And what can you do about it?

Best way to install a blacklist on a Mac computer?

My dad's computer was (mildly) compromised a few months ago - he visited "one of those sites" and ended up clicking "ok" to the dialog boxes and installing an unwanted (and very hard to get rid of) toolbar, which also changed his search engine and home page. This happened TWICE, just a few weeks apart. I've since installed a browser add-on that will prevent that particular type of mischief from happening again. But... [more inside]

False positive spam problem with hotmail

Despite plenty of googling, and even email with Microsoft's support - I cannot seem to solve my problem. I'm wondering if perhaps any of my fellow geeks have had this problem: I run a web/email server of my own, colocated in a highly reputable facility. For some reason, Hotmail views any email coming from my box as spam, and tosses it in a junk folder. I've done all the checks to make sure I don't have an open spam relay problem, etc. I've checked all the blacklists I can think of -- I'm not on any of them. [more inside]

MoveableType Comment Spam

I have put my Moveable Type weblog to sleep, although I am keeping its archives up. Not surprisingly, comment spam continues to come in. It looks like there is no way to globally turn commenting off in MT. Rats. But I do have MT Blacklist installed, and I'm wondering if there's a good way to add some kind of regex wildcard to my blacklist that will deny all comments. Any ideas on how to stop all comments?
