I need great, imaginative, appealing names for black dogs! A friend operates a rescue organization for dogs and cats, and mentioned how hard it is to find homes for black dogs (see Black Dog Syndrome)... and since I was already helping her come up with names, I thought I'd come up with a special list of Black Dog names that are perhaps evocative of personality types, and that might inspire interest so that potential adopters will maybe find their curiosity/sense of whimsy piqued and stop to at least read a description on the website, instead of just passing by any photo of a black dog. Shooting a black and white 16mm film. It's my first (an "exercise"), and I'm not yet sure of the stock. How do different colors show up when filmed w/ BW film? My specific concerns: how best should I costume my actors so they remain dynamic when photographed (ie. nice deep blacks or pure-ish whites; avoid grey)? A lot of the Black Walnut trees in the area are dying. I can't quite figure out why. Common trait, most lost a lot of bark just before they died or just after. Some locals blamed a wet spring last year but I'm looking for something more specific. At least 10 trees last year, most over 10 years old, many older, have died within our little village of less than a city block. Central Pennsylvania. Any ideas?

Where to find genuinely black dress clothing that matches - shirt, tie, belt, slacks, shoes -- a seamless whole from three feet away? Obviously, this isn't an outfit one would have many opportunities to wear, but once or twice a year it would be entertaining to be able to dress stylishly but somberly in black. Black, not dark gray, but black. Like what you see when there is no light at all, black like blindness. Black slacks -- flat front because pleats are fussy (but reversed box are almost acceptable) -- with a shirt of black identical to the black of the slacks -- amazingly difficult to find -- black tie, black belt -- matte -- black shoes -- suede or matte leather. It's worth money to me if, by halloween, I can (at least in dim light) look like a floating head and two hands and depress undertakers. [more inside]

I've been introduced to Trader Joe's Spicy Black Bean Dip and I absolutely love it; problem is that I live in Canada and can't buy it! So, I've decided the best alternative is to make it.
