Identifying a female-sterilization-friendly gynecologist

Looking for a gynecologist who will not give me--28, no kids, not in a relationship--a hard time about getting a tubal ligation. How I can ascertain this from the website, a phone call, or (if necessary) the first visit? Maryland/DC area. [more inside]

Convoluted Birth Control Pill Question

I take Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo birth control pills and accidentally started a new pack the day I was supposed to start the sugar pills. I've only taken one so far. While I can keep going and just skip my period if necessary, I'd rather not for timing reasons. What would the effects be of: A) Taking one pill and then stopping B) Not taking the first pill of the new pack next week?

Headaches, depression, moodiness, PMS: Microgynon or Mirena

My hormones were a mess and 6 months ago my doctor suggested birth control pills to regulate them. I was put on Yasmin, and that worked great, I felt much better overall, except for the debilitating headaches once a month. I tried skipping the stop/placebo week, but that didn't work at all (severe headache and long breakthrough bleeding), and so much headache every month is not an option. [more inside]

Starting birth control mid-cycle, specifically to be period-free for a certain week.

I have an international trip coming up in two weeks. I went off birth control about 6 months ago, and would like to get back on it, to avoid dealing with my period during the trip. I have no experience with starting BC mid-cycle, and when breakthrough bleeding generally happens (immediately? Towards the end of the 30-day pack?). When is the best time to start? Now? A few days before the trip? [more inside]

Headaches on extended pill regimen

I started Yasmin birth control 3 months ago because my doctor thought it would help regulate my hormones. The first month was rough but the last two months were great. This month I wanted to skip my withdrawal bleeding so I started another strip without the stop/placebo week. I am now on day 7 of this strip, and for the last three days I have been having a rather bad headache. I never have headaches three days in a row, and also see no other reason for them. Been outside all weekend, got enough sleep, no changes in food. I don't find much about this on the internet. Should/could I just take a stop-week now, have a withdrawal bleeding, and hope the headache goes away? (and start with a new strip next week?) Should I wait it out? Any experiences?

I'm sporting some pretty awesome, consensually-obtained bruises in some choice places this week, which I certainly wasn't planning on showing to my doctor.
