Mefi birdwatchers, i need help! I'm looking for the most authoritative and comprehensive book(s) on the indigenous birds of Arkansas. Bonus points if it's fancy and the kind of thing you could put on your lap while sitting on the porch and bird watching. [more inside]

I'm traveling by car to Tracy, CA from Oklahoma City in mid-October. I usually take I-40, but this time I'm going to try I-70, I-15 to Cedar City, then state roads to Tracy. I intend to see Bryce Canyon. Any additional great outdoor places or interesting sites that I could include in the trip? 100 miles detours are not a deterrent and I like birdwatching.

I love my mom, and she loves birds. I want to put her bird feeder online so she can watch it at work. Is a networked webcam what I'm looking for? What are my options? [more inside]

I saw this bird this morning in the bottle brush in my back yard. It kept giving out a single "tweet" every ten seconds or so. One of the photos
is an action shot, but I've never seen such a flashy bird where I live - Los Angeles. Does anyone know what it is?

Birders: I need your help!
Yes, I have a guide. Yes, binoculars. Yes, I wander around heavily wooded areas with my fingers twisted in knots, hoping to see a measly robin so I can feel like mine is a life not wasted. Now help me be better! [more inside]

BirdFeederFilter: When it's gloomy and rainy, I don't see any birds at my birdfeeder for days on end. Then as soon as it's sunny, they're all over the place. What gives? What do they do on rainy days, just forage near their nest? Don't birds gotta eat when it rains?
