I'm in Toronto. A bike I want is in Berkeley, CA. I do not know the seller and he refuses to ship (anywhere). I have a relative in Fresno who does not drive but if the bike can get to him, he can ship it to me. Is there a service or something that I can pay to either ship the bike to me or deliver it to my relative? Ridiculous details inside. [more inside]

Is a carbon fiber road frame worth the extra expense? I mean I've read loads of pros and cons but does it come down to a slight difference or a major one? I love to go on 15-30 mile rides but I'd like to increase my comfort levels (got a proper fitting and new seat/post so far). [more inside]

My 20+ year old low end racing Trek bicycle is coming back to me. I need to restore it to working condition. I'm going to go to the bicycle kitchen to do the work but before I do that I'd like to read a bit. What books can a mechanically naive cyclist read to learn about tuning a bike?

Anyone know of a bicycle that would fit a very tall (6' 10") man? Recumbents and velocipedes need not apply.

Bike rental & trails around Moab, UT
I'll be looping into UT thru Zion, Bryce to stay in the Moab area for a couple of days & want to rent a couple of mountain bikes to do some trails. Anyone care to recommend a good local bike shop & some 'must do' trails? And I'll be in Yellowstone/Tetons in a couple of weeks...any rental/trail recommendations around there? Two-part question about buying a bike. Part the first: I want to get a good quality road or hybrid bike. What's your recommendation for brand and/or model to check out and/or avoid? B) If you're in Toronto, where do you recommend shopping? My price range is C$600-1000 (about max of us$750). If you're not in Toronto, is there an online shop you can recommend for buying and having a bike shipped here? Main purpose of the bike is exercise and will almost exclusively be ridden on city streets. [more] [more inside]

I'll soon have a basement, and be able to bring at least one bike inside for the winter, so I'm wondering: do I want a trainer? If so, do I want rollers, a fan-trainer, a fluid-trainer, a mag-trainer, what? I'm not a racer, I'm just looking for an alternative to spinning classes to keep my lungs in shape.
