I just put some new ergonomic grips on my mountain bike, and they're slightly thicker rubber than the older ones. The tiny bit of extra circumference now obstructs the pull of my trigger shifter. When I try to go into a higher gear there's not enough clearance for the trigger to engage the ratchet in the shifter and move the dérailleur. I can force it if I squeeze hard enough and push the lever back out, and the bike shifts gears fine, so the issue is not
cable tension. My question: Is there a way to adjust the trigger pull to be slightly further away from the handlebars? [more inside]

I've googled all around, but can't find the brand of my triple chainring and pant guard. It's for a Trek hybrid, if that helps.
Here's a closeup of the logo
. It has an S with a three-point crown.
It doesn't appear to be Suntour or Shimano, so I don't know.

A few weeks ago, my bike lock left me stranded after the stupid plastic key
handle broke off, leaving the rest of the key trapped inside the lock (and leaving me trapped four miles from home, in the rain). Similarly, the weird plastic key handles add a lot of unnecessary heft to my keychain. Are there any decent bike locks that use "normal" keys? Bonus points if I can get multiple locks that use the same key.

I am looking to start a program within my community to distribute front and rear bicycle lights, hopefully free of charge, to anyone in need. Can anyone suggest a vendor or retailer that could/would offer wholesale prices on a single order to a person, organization, or entity that would distribute the lights, again, hopefully free of charge, but in the worst case scenario, at cost? I'm looking to purchase an extra-large hybrid bike with an internal hub. This would be for casual riding with my family, but ideally the bike is somewhat sporty for longer rides and something I can grow into. The bike will not be used for commuting. If the internal hub request makes this bike a unicorn, then recommend a good all-around hybrid.

My husband got doored on his bike. There was a police report, the guy who hit him stayed on the scene and was actually on the job (delivery) when he opened his door into my husband, who was in the bike lane. The driver did have insurance and presumably the company insures, too. What happens now? [more inside]

I am a 5'8" woman who rides a 56cm (large) Specialized Tricross
. I do not race on this bike — I have it set up for commuting and use it to ride Houston's pot-holed streets.
Or, I *would* use it to ride Houston's pot-holed streets, except riding it for any longer than a couple of miles is pretty uncomfortable. [more inside]

I would like to purchase a beater bicycle. I will use it to go several miles along a maintained bike path to get to a subway station. My ideal scenario: I travel to a location where there are several shit bicycles. I select one of the shit bicycles, I hand someone a smallish amount of money, and I stop thinking about purchasing a bicycle. I don't care if it is a pink bicycle covered in swastikas provided that it works and is reasonably priced. Let's make this happen!

Anyone have any experience with Pure Fix

I have an old iPhone 4 (running iOS 7) that has no sim card. GPS and wifi and all that still work fine and it's got plenty of space. I want to find an app that will allow me to download a big swath of map around my house for offline use, then stick the phone in a bracket on my handlebars and use it as a bike computer to tell me speed, mileage, route, etc. Ideally it would show me where I am on the map as I go, too. I'd gladly pay for the app if it is not free. Is this possible?

I bought a good condition vintage Casati frameset for $380 4 years ago and have been riding it regularly since, without any issues. I recently slipped into a gap between two grates at the bottom of the ramp leading into my work garage and didn't hurt myself but the bike's back wheel was rubbing against the frame. I took it to a shop and they said the frame was bent (I think they said dropouts were bent). I relayed the information to my workplace and they are filing an insurance claim.
My questions are as follows: could that damage have occurred somehow before without me noticing? How do I appraise the worth of my bike? I can't recall the model name and can't find a serial number, i just only see the brand and the columbus decal. And finally, is there anything else I should do in preparation for this claim? i ride a trail in melbourne called westerfolds. it is a 5km switchy trail, short climbs, short descents.
I am riding a scott spark dual suspension carbon fibre, which is a beautiful bike.
but my feeling is that something tailored for the ride would be quicker again.
so i want to build something that will do the trick.
extra note, i love climbing so i guess focus is on getting weight down for the final product.
this is an exercise in what is possible, as well as i just want to get quick.
please give me any technical suggestions? mostly i just want a front suspension with light wheels, but is there any other trick? [more inside]

I would like a black backpack, smaller than your average backpack, that's just large enough to fit my iPad, u-lock, and a few essentials while riding my bike. Something like this
would work, except
I would really prefer something with a squared off rolltop or flap top to the traditional rounded zipper backpack opening. To be even more picky, I would prefer it to be water-resistant, and ideally from a small messenger bag company that manufactures in the USA. If I could just buy something like this
and shoot it with a shrink ray, I'd be happy. [more inside]

The bike and walk non-profit I volunteer with is teaming up with a local bike shop, the women in business group and a wellness center for a monthly bike Thursday night bike ride starting in May. We are looking for a name for it that will seem fun, because it is fun and just get people, esp women out for a social ride. The ride is an easy 10 mile loop, mostly on trails and ends with dinner at different local restaurants. Any ideas really appreciated. It's not just for women, but the goal is to get more women riding just for fun and in town. Not really a lycra ride. Any ideas for names very welcome!

I'm visiting family in Tucson the 24th - 30th and I'm flying my road bike in from San Francisco. I'm intending to get a lot of riding done while I'm there since I've signed up to participate in the Rapha Festive 500
I'm looking forward to doing some great riding including Mt. Lemon (I'll be staying up in the Oro Valley area). While I'm there I'd love to also tap into any cool cycle-culture type stuff the city of Tucson may have to offer. Are there any great cycle coffee shops? Brew pubs? LBS's with some actual community to them? Any group rides or cycle clubs that really embody the Tucson community.
While I'll only have my roadie with me I'm also into fixed gear riding in SF. I don't know if that's a thing in Tucson, but would love to know of stuff in regards to that too. I know there is a strong senior cycle community out there, but for what it's worth I'm a 31 year old male.

GPX Visualization on Google Maps
: I have 300+ GPX files of bike rides that I'd like to be able to link to somehow over a Google Maps
base layer, visually approximating this
. This is related to my previous AskMe
about cycling every road in a town; I need to visualize what roads I have/haven't ridden, and link that progress to a blog. Would like it to be as low-weight as possible; the 300 (uncompressed) GPX files amount to 100+mb currently (route+track+waypoints) and is only getting larger -- vanilla GMaps doesn't play nice with that many files.
