The Dare Essentials

I am thinking of organizing a "two-dollar dare" party and I need simple dares that can be performed in front of a lot of people, and achievable right there. Props are fine, as is the use of another person. So far, I have things like, picking your nose, licking someone else's foot, peeing in a pair of adult-diapers, letting someone slap you hard, letting someone give you a haircut, simulating an orgasm. The idea is that if the people at the party want to see it, they can up the "bid" to a double-dare ($4) or a triple-dog-dare ($6) so I am looking for a good selection of tame dares and rather more outrageous ones. Can the hive mind help me?

What was the name of this graphic design website?

What was the name of the website on which freelance graphic designers could publically upload their logos and banners to match a contractor's brief, on the condition that one of their designs must be purchased after an allotted time? I saw this three or four months back and can't seem to find it now. I'm pretty sure the bidding currency was dollars. The site itself was pretty slick / 'web 2.0' as I remember.

How do Bid and Ask work on Intrade?

How exactly does the Bid/Ask work on Intrade.com? So last night I bought a bunch of shares of "Dow down at least 25 points by close on Monday" with my remaining play money. I was excited this morning when I saw the markets were way down. I was about to quadruple my money. But then on Intrade, no one had sold me the shares I requested. I bought them last night when there was no Ask price. Other people had bid 25 points ($2.5/share?), so I did the same.

How does that work? Do all contracts start off at 50 points when they go live? Had that one not started until opening bell?

If anyone could clarify the whole Bid/Ask thing, I would appreciate it. Intrade's help pages only talk about the bare minimum. I googled on the terms and get the general idea, but obviously I don't get it enough. I'm missing out on a huge (virtual) payday today. :-(

How does one delicately go about bringing up a huge discrepancy in the listed square footage vs. the actual square footage of an apartment in a unit that is for sale by owner? My SO and I have found an apartment we are very seriously considering putting a bid on. As is my habit, I have taken the dimensions listed on the flyer given out at the open house and calculated the square footage to aid in bidding on a square foot basis using comparable sales in the area. Using the owner's own calculations of the square footage of each room, I have discovered that he has overstated the total square footage of the apartment by almost 200 square feet. This greatly affects the asking price of the apartment and most definitely affects any bid we might make.

I have a call into the owner to feel him out on his flexibility on the price. I don't want to insult him, but I do feel the need to point out that his final square footage calculation based on his own individual measurements per room is confusing. And, well, wrong. How do I broach this subject with an aim toward offering a fair bid for actual square footage rather than the overestimated square footage? The apartment is lovely in every way, in a great area, and we would love to live there for all the right reasons. We're in Brooklyn, so it may be that he's just not going to take less than the asking, but I figured I might appeal to his sense of fairness all the same. It's quite possible this is an honest mistake, after all. We are not, however, going to put in a bid on this place based on phantom square footage. FWIW, comparables in the same building are accurately listed and we know the median price per square foot these places went for in the past several months. Those units have gone for far less than the ask on this unit.

Any suggestions on how to broach the subject, if at all? Thanks.

Looking for a website where I can have graphic designers bid and submit sample ADULT SITE logos which I can then purchase. I stumbled upon such a site in the past where an individual would post a description of the adult site and some suggestions and list the amount they were willing to pay for the logo. Graphic designers would then respond in a forum-like environment and the original bidder would comment and then eventually accept/purchase a logo.

Can't find this website despite my best attempts.

Housebuying - what is the bidding process like? How do I make a bid effectively.

I think we might have found "THE" house for my mother to retire in. She has spent her whole life living my father's life and for us "kids". Never came close to enjoying any of the things that interest her. So she wants her home in the country in upstate NY. DH and I have been dedicating weekly trips upstate to help her find this home. We've recently decided to check out Chengango County. Based on pictures, this house looks and sounds great. We're not worried about cosmetic work and will naturally look into the structure of the home and land. Is there anything else I should look for? Thing is...their asking price is about 100k more than the budget set aside. Let's just say for arguments sake the structure of the house is sound with very minor cosmetic work...and given the direction the market is heading, how much less do you think I can bring the asking price down to? What is the process when making a bid? I know I'm jumping the gun sight unseen, but I thought I'd ask anyway even if this ends up not being "the one". I've never done this before and I don't want to mess things up for my mother. TIA!

What should I bid for my writing?

What should I bid for my freelance writing project? I recently landed a freelance project rewriting a graphic designer's web site. There are at least nine pages that should be rewritten; I'm guessing that they'll each include about 500 words. I'll need to interview the designer, meet with his team, and research some similar sites for ideas. I may also suggest some restructuring or additional pages.

When we spoke on the phone, I suggested $25 an hour, which he thought was reasonable. However, we'd both prefer a flat fee. He's committed to working with me, but I want to make sure my bid seems fair while making some much-needed cash. How long do you think a project like this would take? What would you bid?

Help me bid on a freelance writing project.

Freelance writers: help a newbie make a bid on a writing project. I've been offered a freelance project writing nonacademic-friendly summaries of incredibly dry research papers. I'd be writing a one- or two-paragraph summary for each of dozens of research papers. This is for a yearly project, and apparently last year's project ran to 6500 words.

This will be my first paid freelance writing gig, and I have no idea whatsoever what to bid. Can someone give me an idea what a reasonable bid might be?

eBay restrictions?

Every once in a while, when clicking on an item up for auction at eBay, I get a page with generic message saying "Unfortunately, access to this particular category or item has been blocked due to legal restrictions in your home country..." and cannot see the item. But I'm in the US using a US IP address; why would there be a legal restriction? Going by the most recent incident, from what little I could see of the item's information--basically, the title--it didn't seem to be anything remotely offensive or illegal. Why and how does eBay block certain auctions from certain countries or IP addresses? Is the US one of those countries? How can I view these items? I don't even necessarily want to bid on them, but my curiosity is piqued.
