Cycling, Center of Gravity?

Three years ago, I inherited a solid Biachi road bike from my dad. I'm pretty into it now. I usually bike 50 - 100 miles on the weekends, but as that number has crept up, I've run into some some fit issues. Maybe you can help me out with some conceptual stuff. [more inside]

Help buying a women's bicycle

I've never bought my own bike before but I think it's time. I'm currently riding a hand-me-down men's road bike and Citibikes and I like a lot of (different) things about each. I've been to a couple of local bike shops and got some recommendations. I would like to hear Ask me recs both about specific bikes and about the bike buying process in general. I will mainly be riding this bike in NYC, hopefully to commute regularly between Brooklyn and midtown (8-10miles each way), I'll need to shlep my day bag on it (a clip on to the back rack), regularly carry it up and down minimum a half flight of steps, and lock it up on the street (day time only, not over night) without being too paranoid. I think my top budget is 1k but I'd love to get it lower. [more inside]

old peugeot road bike make sense for a beginner

I am looking to get into road cycling, but I cannot afford even the basic entry level bikes (with the Trek 1.1 running at $700 - and the others going on up in price). I found several old Peugeot bikes from the 70s and 80s on Craigslist in my area that are available for under $200. My question is would one of these old high quality bikes work or would I just be riding an albatross (so to speak)? I want to be able to keep up with my buddies if we ride together - so would I be too slow and/or worn out on an older bike? If people in the 70s could bike long distance on these things, why can't we today?

How to choose between bicycles

I'd like to buy a new road bike and I think I have a general idea what I'm looking for (aluminum, Tiagra, WSD). Within that class of bikes, how do I choose between the available brands? [more inside]

Which bike do I want?

For the past several years, I've been riding a Navigator 500. I love how it handles on wooded trails, but on the open road - of which there is an abundance in Wisconsin - it is a lot of work. Which bikes should I be looking at instead? [more inside]
