I'm going to Berlin to see the band Interpol later this month (yay!) but only for one night (boo!). What should I see/do/eat/drink/experience in such a short time? And should I stay out all night long and skip out on lodging?

Whilst at Berlin Tegel Airport, my significant other noticed that while you had the usual disheveled people scavenging around the separate recycle bins in the airport, you had perfectly ordinary looking people poking around inside the bins also. Anyone know why this is so?

I will be in Berlin in mid-June for work. I am looking to meet a friend in Prague, leaving Friday night from Berlin, and leaving Prague on Sunday night (a short time I know).
What's the best, cheapest way to get there. An overnight ride isn't a problem, though shorter is always better. I can arrive in Prague on Saturday morning, and back in Berlin on Monday morning.

We're in Berlin at the end of next week, and wouldn't mind going to somewhere that has a range of German beers, rather than the typical bars which will serve you just Lowenbrau or, y'know, Bitburger. So, the equivalent of a decent beer hall, which serves more beer. And good 'pub' food, German-style. Any ideas where?

Oh hivemind, where would you send a group of very traditional, distinguished, discriminating eaters for a classy dinner in Berlin? Bonus points for a highly cultural venue that offers historical atmosphere or sophisticated entertainment while dining. The folks in question will be staying at the Hotel Palace. Thank you!

I am in love with the way they make
doener kebabs in Berlin. However, now that I'm living in a much less civilized city (Washington, DC), all I can find are authentic Turkish kebabs. While these are excellent, they're just not the same! Help me figure out how to make them just like they do in Germany.

I haven't seen my girlfriend in five months, and I'm going to visit her for three weeks very soon. I want to cook her the most amazing, mouth-watering, plate-licking, so-good-you-punched-your-mother-in-the-face vegetarian meals ever.

So I appear to be trapped in Paris. Flew to Europe over the holidays for a conference in Berlin, and thought I'd spend a week in Paris and fly out of there instead. British Airways is informing me they'd like about a grand to get me out of Paris, and no less if I take the chunnel up to London to catch the London-SFO leg there. Best option I've found is to try to delay the return flight until I can actually make my way back to Berlin (it's too late now). Still on hold finding out how painful that's going to be. Anyone have any better ideas?

All over Berlin (west and east) there are large pipes sticking out of the sidewalk. They're painted light purple. Sometimes they cross a single street before going back underground. What are they?

I'm planning on moving to Europe at the end of this year. Most likely start out in the French countryside of Brittany, where it is semi-affordable to live. Moving from the states. Any advice on working within France and renting a flat while there. I plan to go over on my passport and extend my stay every 3 months or so. Basically looking for first hand experience from those of you who have moved from the states to France (or neighboring countries) and if you have any advice, pointers or tips to go about planning my move it would be highly appreciated. I plan to do much music while over there, but it will not generate enough to sustain a living and France is not a definite locale to start from. I have also been contemplating Vienna and Berlin. Thanks in advance and I would be very interested to hear from others who have moved or have friends who have.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay in Berlin (and possibly Prague) in June? Europe is expensive for us, so it needs to be fairly low price - around 50 euros a night for a double room (65$, 35 GBP (wow, the dollar is low!)). It would be nice to find something a bit more unusual/friendly than an Ibis. Central location (or public transport at a push) and clean. Thanks.
