I need suggestions for South Bend, Indiana restaurants. This will be for a group of ladies meeting for lunch on a Friday. We'd like a place that is local and non-franchised. Mid-range lunch price. No jungle gyms for kids to play on. WiFi would be nice. Easy parking. Plus we don't want to be rushed out in 30 minutes. Ideas?

Moving to South Bend, Indiana

I am looking for a good area of South Bend, Indiana to live. I am moving for a new job (which I got thanks to mefi help!!) and am looking for apartments. I do not know the area whatsoever. I have around $700 a month to spend and need it to house two people. Any thoughts on locations and what areas to avoid? I know I can browse online but do not even know what are the better (safer) areas...

Bend pipe into a 'U'?

I want to bend a metal pipe into a nice U-shape. Is this possible to do myself? If not, what type of company would be able to do this for me? The pipe would be 1-2 inches in diameter. Steel or what is used in boiler systems. I assume i could rig something up with a hydraulic jack, but i worry about the pipe pinching and folding and not giving me the nice gentle U-bend.

(I also wonder if the pipe will shatter and blast metal fragments into my eye or something.)

I only want to bend 2 pipes, so i'm not sure if it would be possible to go to a company or professional. I tried welders, but they couldn't help. Any other suggestions? (I'm in Toronto, btw.)

moving to bend

Any residers (either present or present) of bend, oregon? I'm coming from minneapolis, and would like to move there in march. I'm looking at transplanting myself in seattle coming from minneapolis, but would like to spend a few months in bend, oregon in between. aside from skiing and biking, what is the culture like there?
