I am in need of a new belt, and in possession of a waistline an odd number of inches in diameter. As men's belts typically only come in even sizes, I can't find one that buckles properly at the third hole, and my Google skills have been unable to dig up a satisfactory answer to this question: A belt one inch too long or one inch too short -- which will make me look less of a schlub? I'd like to get my husband a nice belt for our 3rd ("leather") anniversary. [more inside]
For at least the immediate future I'll need pass through security in a federal courthouse without the benefit of employee ID, which means going through a metal detector. I need a durable, metal-free belt (leather or otherwise) that fits standard 35mm belt loops and looks reasonably presentable in a casual-end-of-business-casual environment. Thanks!
We are road tripping today and have just found one seat belt isn't working. [more inside]
I have no idea how to find this belt. I assume it's crocodile, or alligator?
Every belt I wear eventually degrades into something like this on the end with the holes: http://i.imgur.com/bBttJLR.jpg (Sorry for the bad camera quality.) Should I be worried, and if so, what should I be fixing about how I wear belts?
I tried on my husband's favorite belt this morning and broke it. He's had this thing since he was a teenager, and we're both closer to retiring than teening at this point. I believe he bought it at a head shop in Tempe, AZ in the mid-90s. Have you seen this belt? Is there somewhere I can purchase a new one?
I have a slim leather belt with lovely Mexican silver hardware; but the belt itself is fairly shredded, and has already been repaired once (by a shoe repairman, who did the best he could). Who fixes belts these days? How do I find someone to put the hardware on a new piece of leather, in Montreal, in New York, or on the Internet? How much should I expect to pay?
I need suggestions for a durable leather men's belt under $100. My dad is one of those difficult to shop for people because he buys what he needs or wants himself. Last night, he mentioned that he did need a new belt. He also said that he had already replaced his belt once this year, but they always seemed to crack & need replacing often. He wears a separate belt to work, so this would just be for time off. [more inside]
A few years ago I read an article about a study where the subjects wore a belt like device that vibrated on the four cardinal directions. If I remember correctly the subjects were able to determine which direction they were facing even after the device was removed. I am trying to find the article again and am having no luck. I have found other questions here about garter belts and garters, but those probably apply more to the flimsy-ass tights material than what I'm talking about. Yarnie folks who have done this, let me know what you'd recommend! [more inside]
I need to buy myself one black "professional belt," maybe a brown one too. Leather or pretend leather is fine, but I'd rather not get that "foil" stuff that flakes off or wrinkles after two uses. The quality of belts at Marshall's and Ross is disappointing (Rhinestones! Faux snake print! Not Professional!) For me, "professional" means plain. Boring. [more inside]
All my life I've bought cheap-ass vaguely-leather-ish belts (like, the $20 ones from that rack next to the cash register at the el-cheapo big box shoe store) and they've always started to warp within three months and started falling to pieces within six. I don't think I'm unusually hard on my belts. I think the ones I'm buying just suck balls and I should bite the bullet and buy nicer ones. So: How much more would I have to spend to get one that didn't suck? What would it cost me to get a leather belt that would last two years without warping or splitting? Five years? Ten? Infinity?

The timing chain broke while I was driving my 1997 Ford Taurus GL, I drove it for a few more minutes and the battery died. Once I was able to pull over to the side of the road, I opened up the hood and the chain was ripped to shreds. I don't have a lot of auto repair experience, but am I able to repair it myself by just simply installing a new timing chain? If so, are there any diagrams or helpful directions on the internet somewhere? [more inside]

Can anyone recommend any martial arts learning opportunities (camps, workshops, lessons, etc) in Asia that an 18 year old would enjoy? My nephew in the US is a karate brown belt and he would like to travel to Asia when he graduates from high school this year. I am trying to help him find some interesting travel opportunities which relate to karate. He loves karate and has been searching for something to do in Japan or India for Summer 2008 but we haven't found anything yet. Thanks for any tips.
