What are some good dog boarding/kennel services in Seattle (or, even better, on the Eastside) that will know how handle my sweet but incredibly nervous and poorly socialized dog? My husband and I adopted a dog from an animal shelter in early 2012 (pictures because aww), and while she's sweet and cuddly to my family and friends and does okay with most people, she goes nuts around other dogs. We're trying to socialize her, but it's a slow process; we think she was abused before we had her and has a tendency to feel threatened in various situations. She alternates between full-body trembling and fear-based aggressive growling.

We had a kennel we loved in Austin, TX, who knew how to handle her well and really didn't have trouble with her (she even seemed to like the experience!), but I'm having difficulty finding one in the Bellevue/Redmond/Kirkland or Seattle areas that will work for us. Either I can only find daytime "pet sitting" services--we need an overnight service for an upcoming trip--or services that won't take dogs with behavioral problems. Others seem to fit the bill but have reviews that suggest they're not as into reward-based treatment as I'd like.

The one place we found that sounded okay was this vet, but we'd have to take pick her up on a Sunday, as they don't allow pickups on Saturday. :( That's more time away from our dog than is necessary and a waste of money.

So...any good places you guys can recommend? Bonus points if they're good at socializing her while we're away.

Dermatologist in Bellevue/Seattle area on short notice?

Looking for a dermatologist for acne treatment in the Bellevue/Seattle area that could see me--a college student here for the summer--quickly... any hope!? I've looked at this previous question, but there weren't many reccomendations and most seem out of date now.

I'm looking to see a dermatologist within the next couple weeks (for acne), if possible. I have absolutely no history seeing doctors here (from the east coast) but have pretty good insurance on my family's plan. Is this feasible?

Also, I live and work in Bellevue but can travel elsewhere and have pretty flexible hours. A combination of a) a docotor you know/have heard good things about and b) would actuallly be able to see me before next February would be amazing!

Seattle vs Eastside, where to live? Hi,

I'm moving to Seattle and am going to be working on the eastside. I was looking at Capitol Hill (the Broadway neighborhood, but it seems like suburbia with only houses) and Downtown Bellevue, any advice?

There were a few questions before but I assume commute times have changed after the tolling on 520.

Seattle Eastside dentist recommendation, please? Special issue: I haven't seen a dentist in 16 years. Yes, you read that right. Through a combination of laziness and a simple lack of funds, I haven't seen a dentist in 16 years. But I shipped a big freelance design project that paid me quite well, and now I have a small pile of free money to devote to this. Yay for me.

I don't think I have any major issues in my piehole, although I'm certain there will be cavities to fill.

I need a dentist that's modern, good, friendly and won't make me feel like a complete idiot for waiting this long. I need my teeth fixed, not my hand slapped.

Seattle Eastside recommedations required -- Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland, Sammamish and Issaquah.

I'll be in Bellevue, WA for a conference over President's Day weekend. What are the best places to eat/ drink/ grab a cup of coffee and sit/ ???? in the area? I'm staying at the Sheraton and it would be nice to be able to walk someplace, but I will have access to a car if I need it. In addition to mealtimes, I'll have most of two weekdays to use for exploration, so if there's anything awesome I shouldn't miss in the area, please let me know. I have spent a lot of time in the general Seattle area and in Capitol Hill and have hit most of the usual Seattle tourist spots on those previous visits.

I'm a vegetarian, so vegetarian-friendly is important (meaning I'd have at least a couple of decent choices on the menu). Dive-y or fancy, doesn't matter as long as it's interesting. Extra extra points for good Indian food (there's a dearth of it where I live) or for a laid-back happy hour opportunity.

What would be a good place to have a post-wedding reception for ~100 people in or around Seattle, WA? The wedding is in Wisconsin but we want a reception for all of our coworkers back in Seattle. I work on the east side and about 80% of my coworkers live there. SO is a grad student at UW. This means we'll have a mix of people coming from UDistrict and people coming from Redmond/Bellevue. I'm thinking something on the east side would probably be cheaper, and since east siders like to bitch about driving around in Seattle I'm leaning towards something near Redmond or Bellevue.

I haven't decided yet whether it's going to have catered food or whether it will be a pot luck. The event will be early June (wedding is May 22, we leave on honeymoon June 18th-ish so it'll fall between these two dates). I'd like some sort of DJ/band. Someone to serve drinks would be good.

Any other ideas/gotchas/did you think of this'es welcome.

And what do you think about a pot luck wedding reception?

Looking for a dermatologist in Bellevue, WA to remove a small bump under my eye. Yes, Seattle will suffice I live in Seattle, but work in Bellevue so going during the day would be better.

Yelp is convoluted with fake reviews, so I thought I'd ask the MeFi pals.

I have what feels like/looks like a permanent zit under my right eye and I have a job interview Wednesday. It's disgusting and it's been around for weeks.

How's the commute from Beacon Hill or Greenlake to downtown Seattle and Bellevue?

Looking for opinions on commuting from Greenlake or Beacon Hill to downtown Seattle and downtown Bellevue. So my wife and I are moving to Seattle, with jobs lined up; mine will be in downtown Seattle, hers will be in downtown Bellevue. We want to live somewhere in Seattle proper that offers reasonable commutes to both downtowns, but we want to live away from downtown itself and the denser neighborhoods around it. Ideally we'd like reasonable commutes via mass transit to both downtowns as well... figure this will be more difficult for my wife, as she may end up having to drive to Bellevue. We'll keep at least one car for general-purpose use and occasional commuting use.

So far we've been focusing on Greenlake and Beacon Hill. Beacon Hill looks great for commuting to downtown Seattle via transit due to the light rail, ok to Bellevue (~ 45 min by bus according to Google maps). Greenlake looks a bit worse commute-wise, but the overall area seems prettier and more interesting.

I'd love to get y'alls thoughts on those neighborhoods, those commutes, and other areas that might work.

Which is better project management certificate program - Bellevue or UW?

Does anyone have any experience with the Project Management certificate programs at either Belleuve College (previously Bellevue Community College) or University of Washington Extension? Any comments on which is the better program? I'm thinking that the Bellevue program would be a better value career-enhancement-wise because of stronger connections to Microsoft and the tech industry in general, but UW is a better commute for me. This is for a person who has over 10 years of experience as a software developer and is looking at a career transition during the economic down time. Good understanding of and integration with Agile/Scrum would be a plus.

Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Issaquah, Bothell, Renton, Woodenville and the surrounding areas Basically I'm looking for blogs that list current events that are happening in their coverage zone. Right now I seem to get most of my, "Oh that sounds like fun" events from Seattle based blogs and friends in Seattle. The only problem is the only events I usually know about on the eastside come from friends and what I notice posted in the library.

Redmonds filled with Microsofties so there has to be a few good local blogs there right?

Moving to Seattle/Bellevue - help me move/adjust

I am moving to Seattle/Redmond/Bellevue after being in Los Angeles for quite a long time. Moving from SoCal to WA is quite a change and I interested in getting tips/recommendations/suggestions from the hive mind to help me adjust in the new city. I am 24, single male, moving to SEA for my work. LA was pretty dry but many times I used to find it cooler than how I liked.

I have a tendency of falling sick when weather changes suddenly and when the temperature dips so I am worried about Seattle. Luckily my workplace is a 10 minute bus ride from my house so not much of a commute but I still would prefer staying dry.

- What sort of clothes would you recommend? Rainy wear?
- Being sane and not getting depressed in the gray cloudy weather? (which i have heard about but am yet to experience as I haven't been in Seattle for long).
- Any tips for my electronic devices?
- Good (not too expensive) places to eat/have some fun/meet people
- Any other suggestions.

I have many past posts related Seattle but they have primarily dealt with housing/localities etc.

I'm looking for information about early twentieth century tennis player Edward Fischer, who suffered a mental breakdown and ended up in Bellevue Hospital. I have searched every combination of "edward fischer" and "tennis" and found very little. Does anyone have information about his life and/or his tennis accomplishments?

How safe is my sister in Bellevue Hospital's psych ward (in NYC)?

My teenage sister has just been admitted to Bellevue Hospital's psychiatric ward (in New York City); should my parents let her stay put, or have her transferred to another hospital? Is there anything they should be aware of? My sister has been exhibiting symptoms of depression for several months; she's also been dealing with the effects of a benign brain tumor which was recently removed via surgery. (Perhaps the two are related, perhaps not; I have no idea.) Today, during one of her post-surgery follow-up visits, she spoke to a social worker about her depression; the social worker said she was suicidal and needed immediate care, and had her admitted to Bellevue in NYC.

My parents are understandably concerned at the quality of care my sister might be receiving at Bellevue; they aren't sure if they should let her stay there, or have her transferred to another hospital. (They won't release her to my parents, but they'll allow a transfer via ambulance.) Is Bellevue a safe, reasonable place for my sister to be receiving psychiatric care? Would someplace else be better? Is there anything my parents should watch out for? (My mother, in particular, is quite upset that she can't stay with my sister and watch out for her welfare.)

While we're originally from New York, my wife and I reside in Chicago; we can't do much from here, but we can at least query the wonderful hive mind for some advice to pass along to my parents. ::hugs hive mind::

'Office Outings' and 'Team Building' ideas in the Seattle area. I work with a fun, young company on the Eastside. We are brainstorming for fun, interactive 'team building' events.

THIS DOES NOT entail trust falls, ropes courses, or get-to-know-you games. We're talking about fun, adult, hang-out time.

What we're looking for...
- Something that can be done between the hours of 3PM-10PM (doesn't have to fill up the entire block of time) on Mon-Fri of any week.

Things you should know...
- This is for a group of 10-12 individuals.
- Average age: 28
- All but 3 are either engaged or married.
- My company has a very large (but not unlimited) budget.

Recommend a place for mani-pedi in Seattle? Bellevue even better! My mom has never been and thinks she wouldn't enjoy it by herself, but she'd like to make a trip of it. Explain Commuting To Me

Seattle Traffic Filter: Why is there more rush hour traffic on 520 going West-East than East-West? My girlfriend and I live in Greenlake. Every morning, I take her to work in Bellevue, and then I drive to work at Northgate. Why is it that the 520 bridge is usually more congested going into Bellevue than coming out? I go over it at about 8:20 going East, and 8:40 going West. It's almost always (today excepted, perhaps) more crowded on the way in.

I know that downtown Bellevue is growing, and that more and more people are doing the "backwards commute" (live in the city, work in the suburbs) like she does. But it still doesn't make any sense to me.

Am I missing something?
