Are there any animals which procrastinate?

Putting off onerous tasks is a well-known human trait, but are any non-human animals guilty of it? I can only think of the grasshopper in the fable by Aesop, but that is fictional, of course.

Getting to know shrews...

Gray wolves mate for life, honeybees know the world is round and ducks have corkscrew penises. Tell me more! I'm looking for thoughtful and fascinating introductions to the features, behaviors and "character" of particular species of animal. [more inside]

Animals working together?

Please help me find examples of animals or creatures of different types that work together toward a shared goal. I'm trying to use it to illustrate the principle that a group working together can succeed more quickly or get farther than individuals working alone. [more inside]

Frantic pigeons?

Today I was at Boston Common eating lunch, and observed a fairly large group of pigeons all acting in the same bizarre way. For upwards of half an hour (and despite no obvious bread-throwers), a group of 50 or so pigeons was tearing around the park at great speed and low altitude, stopping for frequent and very intense fights on the ground over nonexistent food. I want to play with your octopus (literally)

I am a biology student at the University of Utah specializing in animal behavior, and I have a particular interest in cephalopods (squid, octopi, cuttlefish.) Everything I know about them is from reading, and I would love to have the opportunity to observe one in real life, and perhaps even interact with it if that would be possible. Does anyone in the Salt Lake area have a pet octopus or know of one that I might be able to meet?
