For some reason, the first few sips of beer give me sharp pains in my shoulder and elbow joints. First noticed it a few years ago and forgot all about it until last weekend as I only drink red wine and the occassional pint of cider now. [more inside]

Does draught Guinness really have less calories than skimmed milk? Wikipedia seems to think so but is that right, and can you help me understand why? Thank you :)

I'm looking to build a site that allows its users to submit and/or search pricing and availability information for "widgets" at local brick and mortar retail stores.
The model I have in mind would be similar to the user-supported gas price sites that popped up about a year ago, in which people entered what they paid for what type of gas, and other users then could type in a zip code and see the best prices near them.
So, being a non-programmer (but willing to learn through trial and error), what language/framework/open-source code do I use to build this? [more inside]

I seem to remember hearing about a brewery in a European city using old utility pipes to deliver beer directly into peoples' houses. Did I make that up? A friend thinks so, and I agree: it sounds too good to be true. Has anybody else heard this?

I would like to start my own Microbrewery, brewing open source beer. I would like to build the business around the community. Birmingham, Alabama does not have its own microbrew, and I'm sure there is a lot of legislation that prevents this. Bringing tasty suds to the public, and fighting the good fight sounds like a glorious occupation. But I'm starting small; just brewing my own beer at home, dreaming about the future and looking for a name.

I am plagued by painful beershits and a complete loss of appetite (sometimes days) after a night of drinking. Any ideas other than curbing my acoholism?

We're in Berlin at the end of next week, and wouldn't mind going to somewhere that has a range of German beers, rather than the typical bars which will serve you just Lowenbrau or, y'know, Bitburger. So, the equivalent of a decent beer hall, which serves more beer. And good 'pub' food, German-style. Any ideas where?

I've recently become interested in brewing beer and stuff, and I have to wonder - How the hell do they make Bia Hoi?
It's an incredibly cheap, evidently preservative-free beer that they make in Vietnam and is generally drank the day it's released. Is it just hastily made lager like anything else? I'm basically just intrigued by the concept of making cheap, easy beer that tastes okay to pretty good.

BeerFilter: I've been told by 3 separate bartenders that draught beer has formaldehyde in it, that's why they only drink from bottles. A Google search shows at best that there may be two reasons for formaldehyde being in beer. (1) Can manufacturing and (2) ethanol breakdown. Are either harmful enough to avoid draught beer? On cans of beer, for example Iron City or Pabst Blue Ribbor, it says "Union Made."
Does this refer to the can or the actual beer, or both?

I'm usually a liquor drinker (scotch, whisky, bourbon, vodka) and recently I tried to make the move to beer, just to give myself a lighter option. Problem is I'm noticing the day after drinking a few beers (usually 3-4) I'm horribly sore all over, and basically feel like shit. Not hungover but flu-like symptoms (achey body, sore joints, sensitive skin, mildly feverish) I never feel this way when drinking liquor, so is it possible that I am allergic to beer?

When I was in college, beer was a central part of my life. In fact, we did all sorts of interesting things with beer, besides simply drink the stuff. One particular stupid-beer-trick that a friend did frequently - but which I have never been able to exactly replicate - intrigues me.
