Hi, we have guests visiting us in Minneapolis for the 4th of July holiday weekend. We've got a minivan and designated driver and we'd like to drive around and visit a number of small breweries/brewpubs tomorrow. We took them to Indeed, Fulton, and 612 last time they were in town. Where should we go? Surly seems like an obvious possibility, but where else?
I will be visiting Asheville during beer week! Looking for suggestions for your favorite breweries, your favorite bars, your favorite gay/queer bars, your favorite Asheville snacks (biscuits please!)... [more inside]
A growler exploded in my girlfriend's passenger seat, spilling beer all over. What's the best way to clean it up so that we don't smell it every time it gets warm or humid? Thanks!
I'm a 51 year old male and posted recently about wanting to lose beer belly. I got some great answers so thought I'd now look for a solid, uncomplicated fitness regime that will get me cardio fit and make me look good. I want something simple and easy to follow....perhaps even a bit old school. [more inside]
I have 2kg of Breiss Golden Light DME and I need an extract recipe to start using it up. I am an inexperienced brewer who doesn't know how to create my own recipe or even recognize a decent recipe. I also don't know whether it's appropriate to substitute any light DME for my Breiss DME. Please help me find a recipe. [more inside]

I'll be in Atlanta from April 13-17 for a conference. I am trying to come up with an interesting social activity for everyone associated with our research project - 10-15 people. In the past, this has taken place at sporting events, but we can't find anything in town! Any suggestions? [more inside]
I'm searching for a recipe for a drink my Danish grandmother used to make. Alas, her recipe was a tightly held secret and she passed away without sharing it. I don't have a ton to go on and my googles aren't coming up with anything. [more inside]
Travelling to Melbourne in February, what are some great craft breweries to check out? [more inside]
A friend brought an 18-pack of Miller Lites to our house, and we now have a bunch of excess Miller Lites nestled in our kitchen. I am wondering what kinds of cocktail recipes might make 'em more interesting. Beermosas and Micheladas are my classics for brunch, but what cocktails made with a light bland lager do YOU love? Yes, YOU; I'm asking YOU, dear reader!
In the late 90's I used to drink an ale and I'd like to drink it again... but unfortunately I can't remember its name. [more inside]
I'm looking for a beer with a name that invokes Dungeons and Dragons. Preferably from the Pacific Northwest, and it needs to be available in a keg distributed to Eastern Washington. [more inside]
My friend in Mexico is getting married. I want to bring him microbrews. What is the recipe for success? [more inside]
I'm dating someone new, she's originally from southern Arkansas. Next Saturday she's invited me to watch the Razorbacks football game with her and her friends from southern Arkansas. I would like to show up with the appropriate beer but I haven't been able to determine what that might be using the power of google. [more inside]

I have to do a beer mile with a bunch of friends today. Im overwight and outta shape, and of course I didnt prepare for it at all, but i can drink some beer prettty damn good. Anyways, Im not trying to come in first by any stretch of the imagination but I don want to finish and have a good time. Some of my friends are awesome runners (Marathoners). Say like you (me) are going out to a nice restaurant with friends and you would like to order a glass of beer instead of the usual red wine.....but you know it will bring on a painful gas attack due to the fizz. Is there a fast, discreet way to get those bubbles out of your glass? Salt? A pinch of baking soda? Thanks.
I've tried many types of American craft brews. Now recommend for me some mainland European beers. [more inside]
Due to medical reasons, I can no longer drink carbonated beverages, including beer. So what kind of wine might quench my thirst after a long day at the lake? Any other suggestions like hard cider or lemonade that isn't carbonated? Margaritas obviously, but what else? I typically enjoy good old Bud Light so something along those lines.
I've been through a lot of changes lately and one of them has been losing 40 lbs. I love beer and socializing. And another change is being more social and putting myself out there. But the combination of eating less and weighing less has put a dent in my ability to deal with alcohol. I end up slightly more drunk and a lot more hungover How do I continue to enjoy the things I love without it affecting me so much? [more inside]
So what are some good beer makers for me to look out for in Italy, and what particular bars or restaurants have good beer selections in Rome and Venice? My preferred styles are IPA, Belgian ales, stout; but anything that has some depth of flavor is good, especially if it is rooted in local/regional brewing traditions. Just not flavorless lager! [more inside]
I once had a pint glass that a roommate left behind when moving out. It was a regular 16-oz pint glass, with a drawing of a beaver and the tagline "Where Beavers Go to Eat and Drink." I don't have the glass anymore, but I would like to find it for sale somewhere. Except I can't remember enough about it to search for it, other than that tagline! Do you recognize the tagline? Where is it from? [more inside]
Where can I go in Philadelphia to get a beer to enjoy while working on my laptop? Strict quiet isn't required, but reasonably reliable wifi is a must. I'd be equally happy with a coffee shop that serves beer or a bar where laptop use wouldn't be weird. Outlets aren't necessary. [more inside]
Say you lived in Portland, and you like journal writing and you like beer. Normally you journal write while working in one of the city's wonderful coffee shops, but you were thinking - "it's the afternoon and I live in Portland - I should replace coffee with beer!" Where would you go . . .?
My brother is helping me move for the eleventy billionth time in May. I want to do something very special for him. He loves nachos. [more inside]
I moved to the Bay Area a year ago and have no complaints about the weather thus far. On the other hand I really miss the Chicago breweries that aren't available in stores out here. I'd love to get my hands on some of their new releases, particularly their stouts and porters. Anyone know if it's legal and possible to ship beer to CA for personal consumption and how to go about it?
I recently tasted a beer that is brewed locally and I really enjoyed it. How can I determine which commercial beer would taste the most similar? I won't always be in this region and have access to this brewery. I'm not typically a "beer" person and don't really have tons of knowledge on beer and their flavors, but I enjoy this one and a Guinness occasionally. Thank you in advance.
I'm flying out of New Orleans tomorrow and for nostalgic reasons would like to get a six-pack of Terrapin Rye to bring with me before leaving. I'm staying downtown near Canal and Chartres -- is there anywhere around here that has it? A Rouses, maybe? [more inside]
I'm heading to Montreal on business in a couple of weeks, and am always keen to try good local beers. Les Soeurs Grises on Rue McGill is just down the street from the hotel, but I'd love to hear of any other recommendations in or around the city center...
I'll be in Seattle for 48 hours (Sunday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon) for a brief leg of a solo trip. Help me structure my time there for maximum wandery enjoyable urban exploration, with perhaps a little bit of hiking thrown in? [more inside]

I'm heading to Seattle next weekend and would like to spend at least part of the time checking out the local pub scene and sampling some tasty Seattle brews. I am staying near the intersection of Madison St. and Boren Ave.; can any Seattle-based MeFites recommend any not-to-be-missed microbreweries or anything or that ilk in the general area?

Where can I buy Astra Beer in NYC? I'm sure it's available somewhere, but basic Googling hasn't turned up a specific store that has it. Before I start to make the rounds of all the beer stores in the area, I'd welcome suggestions of specific stores that are known to have it. Danke!
I was thinking about the Ken Burns Prohibition documentary today, and it got me thinking: if I wanted to find what beer tasted like in the United States a century ago, what would I try? [more inside]
If all goes well, I'll be away from home for up to 20 months, beginning this winter. What home-made foods, etc., could I make before leaving that would be super-awesome after aging for a year or two? [more inside]
I moved to the Bay Area recently (San Mateo) and one of the things I've missed most from Chicago has been the amazing beer selection I was able to find at the local liquor chain Binny's. I've tried a couple of BevMo's and some smaller momandpop type places but I've yet to find a place with 4 rows of different beer plus coolers etc. which I could find in Chicago. I miss my selection! Does a place like this exist? Is there a secret bottle shop that I don't know about? Let me know where I can get my beer selection on!
My wife wants to bring an American craft beer to a former colleague who is primarily a real ale drinker in the UK. He is pretty game to try anything (and is more of a hophead than I am) and we would like to get him something he can't get there and that is a bit different (so no American Belgians for instance) but also worth the hassle. What should we get? We are in Chicago and probably have to get it from Binnys.
I need a bar or restaurant for a small group on Sunday. One of our group however, is my puppy. Another requirement is that it is near the N train, or a quick transfer from the N train on this Sunday (are they still randomly shutting down the 7 train over the weekend?). Beyond that, it's not too picky. I know about the Bohemian Beer Garden, but I am not sure that they allow pets. Sidewalk cafes, anything outdoors should be great.
I've got a very weak and too tart berry beer in primary/secondary. I'd like to avoid tossing it, but as it stands, this stuff is not drinkable. Can you help me fix it? [more inside]
Sadly the Ghana Cafe is closed, and now my dad and I need a new venue to watch Ghana vs USA tomorrow. Hoping to find a place with fans of both teams, a clear view of the TV without jostling or dodging, and preferably Tusker or other African beer available. Any recommendations, DC mefites?

I’m organizing an event in early July and I need help figuring out the easiest way to provide five meals to 70 to 90 people at a campground. Our location is booked- it’s a great campground with showers and bathrooms and a pavilion and a fire pit. Our planning is moving along nicely, but but as with previous years, food is the challenge. Details follow: [more inside]
I have a growler from Pyramid breweries with a plastic screw top. I bought it because I figured I'd be able to fill it up all the time. Unfortunately, I just got off the phone with Stone Brewery in Pasadena and they won't fill my growler because it's a plastic screw top (must be a flip top) and because it has a different companies logo on it (though they said I could scrape it off, which I don't mind). Any other ideas for where I could fill my growler for a party tonight?
