My husband and I are travelling to Boston for a wedding and will then have the last week of May to relax. We are looking for recommendations for a beautiful remote place in northern New England where we can stay for 5 days. The catch : neither of us drive so it has to be accessible by some combination of public transport. [more inside]
Dearest Metafilter - You named my dog, and you almost named my first business, so I thought maybe you could help me name one more thing! We've recently purchased a small property that we are going to turn into a guesthouse / creative retreat, and it needs a name to match! [more inside]
Sarasota Where-To-Stay: We want to stay in Sarasota, Florida, USA, Dec. 27-30 to visit with my dude's parents. Can anybody recommend a nice place to stay with kitchenette-type facilities (i.e., at least refrigerator/microwave - or maybe a friendly BNB) with _somewhere_ nice to walk, i.e., not located on a high-traffic road with nothing nearby but uninteresting industrial stuff, nail salons, or chain stores? I'm working with a travel agent, and have looked around a bit myself, so this is a long shot. [more inside]
Does such a place exist with three or four hours driving from NYC? Searching for a bed and breakfast with a telescope (that works and is pointed at something?) and a hot tub? [more inside]
Where is a good place, in or near Boston, for a early October getaway? [more inside]
My company has offered me a weekend at a B&B in the Texas Hill Country in thanks for 10 years of service. Looking on the web there appear to be thousands of them, with wildly scattered reviews depending on which review site one chooses. Having had mixed experiences with B&B's, I thought I'd turn to the green for suggestions. If you've been to one in that area that you would recommend (or steer us away from), please write below.
We would like to go away in April to celebrate both a birthday and a wedding anniversary. Our ideal location would be a fairly nice B&B or resort that has either a private cabin or outbuilding, as well as proximity to hiking/the woods. Ideally within 3.5 to 4 hours drive from Pittsburgh. Me and the missus will be going to NY in Spring! [more inside]
I'm going to be in the Boston area on the 29th and 30th of this month, and I'm looking for a bed-and-breakfast type place to stay over that weekend. Small and cheap is preferred, and outside the city - I've been thinking south, near (probably not actually on) the Cape. Does anyone have suggestions, either of particular places or of general areas I should aim for?
What is it actually like to work at a bed and breakfast or a small inn? [more inside]
Where to stay in Brooklyn, October 2012 edition. [more inside]
Sisters and I want to meet somewhere in the middle, between Connecticut and eastern Tennessee. We would like something that is a reasonable drive from each state. We are looking for a quaint type town, maybe a bed and breakfast, walking to restaurants and browsing antique stores? Not spending too much money would be nice. Close to the 81. Was thinking about northeastern VA-ish. We will be going end of July for 2 nights.
Do you know of any good places within a 2-hour commute of DC where it's possible to rent a sailboat and stay somewhere cheap for a weekend? [more inside]
Help me find a place within 4-5 hours driving distance from DC that I could book a swank-esque hotel/non elderly B&B room* and sweep my boyfriend off his feet for a combined Valentines/birthday funtimesfantastic weekend. *(under $400 for 2 nights) [more inside]
My Fiancée and I are looking for the perfect venue in a 2-hour radius of New York City (CT, NJ, PA, DE), and cost is definitely a consideration. We're wildly guesstimating we will have 75 people. More inside... [more inside]
I have an apartment that I'm not using. Is there any way I can monetize this? [more inside]
Help. Mrs. McMurphy's birthday is this weekend. We've been planning to go out to a nice (you know, "cute", but not crushingly frilly) B&B in the Shenandoahs. Of course, last minute planning is constraining our options. Airbnb has been good to me in the past, but whats available now seems to have more of the "extra room at my house" kind of vibe than "remote romantic spot in the country" vibe that we're looking for. Any suggestions or experiences with nice, interesting places to stay - not necessarily strictly bed and breakfast, even - in the area? Bonus points for other activity suggestions in the region.
Looking for places to stay in Paris in October. [more inside]
Any suggestions for inns or small hotels that incorporate modern/minimalist design? I'm trying to avoid the Victorian, lace, floral aesthetic. I'm particularly interested in the New England/East Coast area. [more inside]

Help us find the perfect B&B! Agent86 and I are tying the knot and we'd like to celebrate by spending the weekend at a nice B&B not too far from NYC. [more inside]
So, my sweetheart and I are going to dump the city life, head down to eastern Canada, open a bed & breakfast, and live happily ever after. It's that last bit which is a little hazy. Neither of us have any experience running a B&B. This question is for MeFites who have. Is there anything you know now about running a B&B that you wish you’d known before? [more inside]

Oxford UK: Want to know where I can park myself at an inexpensive B&B and my car. [more inside]
My parents decided they want to visit Munich during the Oktoberfest. Every hotel or B&B near the town center seems to be booked or prohibitively expensive during this time. Can anybody recommend lodgings or other areas in which to look for lodgings that are not directly in the town center? [more inside]

Can you recommend a bed and breakfast or some other non-chain hotel in San Francisco? I'd like to take a weekend to spoil my wife there soon. [more inside]
I live in the Boston area and would like to go to a bed and breakfast for a long weekend. I have found a number of B&B sites, but each site only has a limited number of inns. I'd like to find a site that is a clearinghouse for B&B's which is more searchable. For example, I'd like a place that is 2 1/2 hours or less from Boston within a certain price range, etc. So far, all the sites I've been two have been so limited. Any ideas? Or am I going to have to start creating a wiki/web site/Googlemaps Mashup that provides this information myself! (Like I have the time for that!!) Certainly this wheel has already been invented. These are the sites I've found so far. It seems you have to know where you're going before you start looking, and that's the point... I just moved to Boston. I don't know where I want to go!
