I want to introduce my 2.5 year old daughter to songs & tunes that will stay with her for the rest of her life.
When she was born, I used to sing to her Ringo’s "Good Night"
as her first lullaby, and recently when she found it on ‘her Youtube’, she was astonished & happy to rediscover it.
I want to feed her with many more great Beatles tunes to grow up with, as well as any and all other great & necessary melodies. [more inside]

Remixed/Remastered Beatles songs? I love the 1999 Yellow Submarine Songtrack versions of the songs. I know a few years ago we got a remastered catalogue but it doesn't have the same pop or zip as the Yellow Submarine Songtrack. Has anyone done a bootleg remixing/remastering with similar results to the Yellow Submarine Songtrack?

In response to a question about the genesis of "Eleanor Rigby", Paul McCartney explained his initial idea for the music as follows:
"I wrote it at the piano, just vamping an E minor chord; letting that stay as a vamp and putting a melody over it, just danced over the top of it. It almost has Asian rhythyms"
This is my first encounter with "vamp." I didn't know it was a word until I came across this quote about half an hour ago.
Evidently it's both a transitive verb ("vamping an E chord") and a noun ("... as a vamp")
Even more evidently: parts of speech be damned, I have absolutely no idea what any part of this quote means.
Actually, that's not true: I have a rough idea of the meaning of "I wrote it at the piano"
Aside from that though I'm in the dark until somebody hip to musical jargon lights a candle for me, by way of explaining what Sir Paul is saying
Help! I need somebody, help...

There's a beat used in the Beatles' "Please Please Me," that's used over and over in pop music. It's in, "Dog Days are Over," "That Thing You Do," and Del Shannon's, "Runaway." Does anyone know more songs where this is used?

I am looking for an album I found in a junk shop many years ago. The album was recorded by an all-girl quartet from Liverpool who cut an entire album of Beatles songs. They had a name that evoked the Fab Four (my recollection seems to be "She-Beatles" or "Beat-Elles", but nothing under either name comes up on Google) and the cover was an homage to With the Beatles
. The liner notes on the back detailed the similarities between the Beatles and the all-girl band portraying them, but ended with a sentence like "...and they would like to be judged on their own merits". The album came out around '64 and was contemporary with the Beatles. Unfortunately, my Google fu is failing me. Can anyone out there help me ID this album/band?
