I'm looking for poems about the beach that have some nostalgia to them. I'll be pairing them with some photographs of a woman on the beach looking mostly wistfully (think prenup photos!). Quotes are also appreciated. thanks!
I am planning a vacation and tortured by all the choices. I'm thinking of the Caribbean or Central America (but open to just about anyplace). I need help narrowing it down. The trip is for my husband, my 5 year old son and me. We'd be flying from Boston and going for a week. So much more inside... [more inside]

I was just offered a job in Los Angeles starting April of next year. We are considering it, and just starting to look around on Craigslist etc at housing/ neighborhoods. I am wondering which areas are good for our "prerequisites" which are really just things that are ideal and are in no way deal breakers: [more inside]
My friends and I live in NYC. We want to spend a night at a local beach (Far Rockaway, Sandy Hook, Fire Island, whatever). Ideally, this would consist of a trip via public transit to a beach, and then staying at a reasonably priced hotel close to said beach. If possible, we'd like to avoid renting a car or splurging on a vacation rental. [more inside]

I live in Toronto, and I have to go to Taipei in June for my brother's wedding. (I've never been to Taiwan.) In addition to the week i spend in Taiwan, I also want to go somewhere culturally interesting with good food and beaches, and i want to either fly there on my way to taiwan, or i want fly there and back from taiwan. Where can i fly to and from taiwan, cheaply? Or where can i stop en route to taiwan, without it breaking the bank? (Right now, my ideal beach vacation stop is Bali, but it appears to be an expensive flight from Taiwan, and it isn't a place i can get to as a stop en route.) [more inside]

I'm looking for a place to take the extended family this summer. About 20 people, ages 3 to 83 want to spend a week at some beach. Level of difficulty is we need 3 cabins/cottages/trailers/whatevers, and the location should be about 200 miles or so from Buffalo NY. So that would put us someplace between maybe Syracuse and Cleveland, and anywhere south of Toronto in Ontario. Closer to Buffalo is better. We're hoping to stay on a beach or as close to a beach as possible. [more inside]

Beautiful, quiet sandy beaches on the east coast or gulf coast of the US for a holiday next summer? Cottages with hammocks are preferable to condos or hotels. Basically I'm looking for the exact opposite of places like Myrtle Beach. Proximity (as in an hour's drive or less) to a culturally interesting city like New Orleans or Charleston is a definite bonus.
I need a vacation! I'm looking for a warm, beach-y place to relax for 5-6 days in February 2012. Pros: solitude, beautiful beaches, comfortable beds, massages, spas, great food, relaxation. Cons: crowds, kids, loud parties, lots of drunks. I will be leaving from Washington DC, so Caribbean and Central America recommendations would be great. [more inside]

We're getting married next June and want a beach wedding in Florida. We're looking in the general Cocoa Beach area and we're having a hard time picking the perfect beach. The wedding planner keeps trying to talk us into a beach we're not 100% in love with. We need help picking the perfect beach. Have you had a beach wedding in the Cocoa Beach area?
