I have a bunch of friends coming to visit me at the bay area. I want to be the perfect host and I've done my research on what fun things to do to make sure they have a good time. I have two remaining doubts though: how to get all of us around in the city using public transportation, and the nightlife.

I am looking for a wedding venue in the SF Bay Area (ideally San Francisco or the Peninsula/South Bay. The twist here is that we will have just four guests, so I don't exactly need a ballroom. Rather, a more intimate outdoor or indoor venue will do great (shooting for July, on a Saturday). For example, are there any nice public buildings or spaces open on a weekend? I don't want anything too remotely located, unless there is something else to do in that location, like have lunch afterwards. Thanks for all your suggestions.

My beloved is leaving her apartment in Oakland, which means getting rid of her couch. She arranged with a local thrift store to pick it up, but upon inspection they were unwilling to do so, citing "sun damage". Now she has only about 48 hours to get the couch out of her apartment and get rid of it. Any suggestions? Goodwill no longer does pick-ups.

I want to buy a piece of sculpture for my garden. I'm looking for something very modern, optionally with a Japanese theme. The largest size for the base is 2'x3', height 5 feet to 7 feet. Where can I go in the Bay Area to see a decent selection? To give you an idea,
here's the one place I was able to find that looks good, but I'd like to see more choices. Also, that place is a bit more expensive than I'd prefer, though it's not a deal-breaker.

Where are the best places to see Christmas lights in the San Francisco Bay Area? Consistently-extravagant neighborhoods are best, but dedicated displays are okay too. They can be free or pay-to-enter. Bonus points for not being too far from San Jose (by car). Thanks!

I live in an oldish (1920s) apartment building, in a studio. A while ago I tried the time-honored "scream and rant to an empty room" method of anger management--and got a visit from a
dozen cops my neighbor called, and who went through my place to check that I wasn't axe-murdering someone or anything like that. This is, of course, not sustainable, but if I can't rant at home, where can I rant?

Bay Area-centric/Bike-centric question: I love to go for bike rides with my 7 year old. She's usually up for about 5 miles, but is interested in going farther and so am I (with breaks). She gets discouraged if there are a lot of hills or if the road is rough. So far the best routes have been on the completed chunks of the Bay Trail because they are flat, paved, pedestrian/bike only (no cars) and have nice views. Can you suggest any other spots for this kind of low-key but long-lasting bike ride in the greater Bay Area? Are there websites or books I should look to for more ideas?

I want to buy a gift certificate to a day spa for a twenty-something gay man with upscale conservative taste. I'm looking for a place that's sleek, sophisticated and oriented towards men, with good massage and other services, high standards for service and cleanliness, and ideally also offering lunch and cocktails. The kind of place where someone could lounge around all day drinking a mimosa and reading the paper, wearing slippers and a robe. It needs to be in San Francisco proper, not elsewhere in the Bay Area.

cmchap and I intend to spend this summer in San Francisco, but we still haven't found a place to stay. We're both undergrads, so we figure looking wherever undergrads (specifically Stanford or UCBerkeley) live during summer classes and the like is a good start. The question is: where does the Stanford or UC Berkeley undergrad population that stays in off-campus apartments for the summer live? Additionally, if we can't find anything there, where should we look next? Or, more importantly, where should we avoid? Neither of our jobs are location specific, but we'd like to be near public transportation. Thanks!
