This charming short film, maybe 15-20 minutes, is about a Mexican woman's morning routine of roasting her own coffee beans in frying pan, filtering coffee through a linen handkerchief, then washing the linen and hanging on clothesline to dry. I thought it was by Les Blank, but can find no listing for it. I also searched Werner Herzog, but couldn't find it. Film came out of the Bay Area food renaissance of the '70s, I believe. Think I saw it in '80s. Anyone seen it, can give me a clue to provenance? TIA.
I have NEVER had my hair professionally cut or styled. It's way past time, but (like many things in life) the longer I wait, the harder it is. I also have a very long list of special requests. What should I do in order to have hair I love again? [more inside]
I've visited San Francisco several times over the last year, and I think the Bay Area is where I'm supposed to be. Every time I go there, I feel like I'm home. Every time I come back to Boston, I feel miserable. So it's time to start planning a move. Soon. [more inside]

I'm trying to find more about a pair of jumping stilts that I saw at maker faire (2013 Bay Area) that are substantially different form any I've seen online. Does anyone know anything about these - they had a glossy metallic-red (almost Ironman-like?) nearly-knee-high boot instead of the usual clamps, and the spring power seemed to come from a lot of black rubber cording bunched in the rear as if a calf muscle (I don't recall the mechanism, but bungie cording suggests it's different to the blade-spring traditional design). Are these something that can be purchased, or were they a maker-crafted one-off?
For the last year I have had mild RSI, though it began pretty bad and I quickly changed things up so it would be better. That said, it hasn't gone away and I want to talk to a broader base of experts to try and nip this in the bud before it becomes more than just a nuisance. Ideally, I'd like to find a doctor that specializes in RSI, physical therapists (though I'm sure said doctor could refer me), and then whatever else people know...massage therapists, whatever else could help. But I'm looking for people who really know RSI and have worked with people with RSI before. I'm tired of doctors just saying "this is what happens when you use a computer." I'm in San Francisco, but can travel into the bay area if I have to.
Where can I find a hotel, resort, vacation cabin or non-camping getaway within 100 miles of San Francisco that allows dogs and has EV charging - preferably this weekend? [more inside]
I just realized that a friend's birthday is TODAY, and I'd like to know if there's a way I could order something to be delivered to him in Berkeley. Yes, there are flowers, and fruity edible arrangements, and maybe even singing telegrams. But might there be anything else, something that has a bit of artsy quirky Bay Area magic to it? A teensy letter from The World's Tiniest Postal Service (thumbtackpress.com) would have been lovely if I had only a bit more time. Any ideas for something a bit unexpected and sweet? Many thanks!

Hi everyone, I am looking for recommendations for therapists in or around San Jose, CA (San Francisco would be too far) who take Kaiser insurance, or if this is even possible. I cannot change insurance, and the Kaiser therapist I talked to a year or two ago said they are allowed to prescribe medication and see patients a maximum of once a month, and I would prefer something weekly. If anyone knows of any therapists that somehow are allowed to take Kaiser or have reasonable rates for out-of-pocket pay, I'd be very grateful. Also want to add that I don't need a specialty therapist; this is just general life ennui stuff (some days worse than others). Thanks!

Cheap wine county hotels/motels/ B&B's? I am planning a romantic getaway in August. We want to check out an area 1-2 hours away from San Francisco, and preferably in Napa or Sonoma. But, if you know of other romantic weekend getaways, we are open to exploring! We have been to hot springs that were also amazing. We are on a budget, but sifting through Kayak and hotels.com is a chore and not always accurate, so we would love your recommendations. Thanks so much!

Help an older couple move to the bay area-My parents are interested in moving to the bay area and are visiting this week to check out some possibilities. Do you have recommendations for areas/communities that might be a good fit for them? They are in their 60's and like quiet, peaceful places, natural beauty, the ocean, slower pace, and they don't have a lot of money. They are spiritual and into alternative medicine, holistic health and gardening. Thank you!
So I've lived in beautiful San Francisco, California since 2005, but I've recently started a job down in Sunnyvale. I can take Caltrain down there, but it's an hour's trip plus half an hour on either end to get from home/work to the Caltrain station in question. This is not sustainable, so I'd like to move south. I'm 31, single, and a city boy from way back, so moving to The Suburbs gives me pause. Also, I sold the only car I've ever owned back in '05 shortly after I moved here. So I have two questions: [more inside]

My friend and I are going on a driving tour of awesome/strange/compelling Bay Area libraries and we're looking for recommendations. The only one on the list so far is the Mills College rare books room. We're open to special libraries, public libraries, academic . . . . the only criteria is that it is not actually in San Francisco (since we have use of a car for the day we don't want to waste it on things she can access via public transportation). Recommendations?
