I've recently bought a old Palm V with OS 3.1. I like its elegance, simplicity and feel. I'm not interested in the email function, but I see there are upgrades available.

Clueless homeowner question: Our sump pump (which has a battery for backup) is beeping and blinking, telling me to replace the battery. It looks like a car battery, but my son (he who knows how stuff works) is away ay school.
What kind of battery do I get? Where do I get it? And, most scary, how do I (safely) unhook the old one and replace it with the new one. Don't assume I have even the most basic skills or knowledge.

My wife has insisted for some time that you can 'train' a battery in order to optimize its performance and lifetime.

Mrs. mysterious1der's laptop (M55-S331) won't keep time accurately. I've torn apart and repaired (board swaps, not actual board level repair) dozens of Dell laptops, but this is my first Toshiba. Lo and behold, the CMOS battery is soldered to the motherboard. Do I either have to unsolder it and resolder a new one, or get a new motherboard?

Is my mac battery dying or is there another problem? My macbook is almost a year old. Suddenly my battery life sucks. I just opened it up after charging it over night and it only registered 1:33 minutes left. Right now, only minutes later it is at 79% with 1:09 left. It’s dropping faster then the elapsed time.

We've all been reading about the iPhone and its battery that's supposed to last 300-400 charges. How do they define "charge"? I usually charge mine every night, when the battery is at about 50%. Is that a "charge"? If I top my iPhone off when it's at 80%, is that a charge? What's the best way to preserve the life of my iPhone battery?

So Energizer or Duracell? Or some other brand? I'm confused. Apparently they are both 5 times more powerful than the other. I'm looking for the best value-for-money AA battery on the market (i.e. battery hours per dollar). I understand it depends to some extent on the device. Let's say two devices - the TV remote control - and a digital camerra. Anyone have a link to the definitive report?
