Most people want to salvage the laminate, I want the opposite. I have a bathroom vanity that is 50"x22" with sink. Three sides have tile on them as backsplash. How do I remove the laminate without wrecking the plywood underneath? I've heard soaking it in tolulene or lacquer thinner or acetone works but wouldn't that soak the wood as well and swell/ruin it (The acetone would evaporate quick though)? I used to be a floor layer so I'm thinking heat. Would a seam sealing iron work? It's basically a flat rectangular iron that can go from low to very high heat. It's safe to use on underlay so I assume plywood could handle it. I don't care about salvaging the laminate top. I just need to put a new one on and I heard that sanding and putting laminate on laminate is asking for trouble. Although I have contractor friends that with the owners permission have used liquid sandpaper and put it on existing laminate and have not had problems, 5-10 years on.

I need inspiration for an impending South Florida master bathroom remodel. I like a shabby chic style, and I understand the principles, but desperately need specific images for a bathroom that totals 45 sq feet outside of the shower stall, and probably more like 30-35 sq feet once you subtract the water closet. Is there a place where I can see many bathroom vanities on display? I need to buy a bathroom vanity and it is something I need to see in real life not just on a website as color and quality can look different up close. Places like Home Depot and Lowes only display a few and a search for "bathroom showroom" found contractor/decorator storefronts where the main purpose is to sell $20,000 bathroom makeovers rather than to display products. Are these things people typically buy mail order without having seen them or am I looking in the wrong place?

RemodelingFilter: What's the name for the not-so-common style of bathroom sink in which (1) the back half of the bowl fits firmly within the vanity/countertop like a normal top-mount sink, but (2) the rounded front half of the bowl juts out several inches from the vanity, overhanging similar to the front edge of a pedestal sink?
