When I plug my iBook into my home stereo, it sounds horrible. Way bass-y and mumbly. Do you use your equalizer? If so how and why? When playing back music I tend to raise the treble and bass extremes a bit only to find that it makes another album, or even another song by the same artist sound like crap. So then I reset everything back to zero for a while and go through the same process. Is there a "proper" way to use an equalizer?

In about a week, my boyfriend and I are flying from Chicago to Boston. He plans to play with his band while he's there, and so would require his bass (electric). This is not something we would want to check, for risk of damage or theft. But I don't think that sort of thing is allowed as carry-on. What can we do? I know that a lot of locked items are forced open nowadays for security checks. Does anyone have any experience with transporting instruments via air? We're taking ATA by the way.

In the video for invisible Sun, from "Reggatta Mondatta", there was something that looked like a fretless, stringless, bodyless (a la Steinberg) bass. It had a very electronic sound, and was played by tapping, apparently. I don't think it was a stick, as it didn't seem to have strings, but I might be wrong. Does such a beast exist?
