My kids' school recently installed a GAGA ball pit (link
) in their playground, and my 5-year old boy is in love with the game.
His birthday is coming up, and we were thinking it would be great to incorporate some gaga into the party.
We could have it at the school...except there are no bathrooms...which seems like a deal breaker for a kids birthday party.
Does anyone know if there is another of these gaga pits anywhere in the Portland Metro Area (with bathroom access)?
I have googled, and come up with nothing...but surely if there's one out there, Metafilter can find it!

I'm on vacation solo and bought my husband a really cool soccer ball, but the store did a bad job of deflating it, and cracked the outer shell. Will it be okay when I inflate it again, or should I be looking for a backup gift? [more inside]

I'm looking for the title of a children`s picture book which had a boy named Paul and a man with a crystal ball named Solamand (sp?) . Many of the pages had shiny silver spots on them such as a silver rain puddle. I thought it had ``Apprentice`in the title, but maybe not. I don`t know when it was published but my children read it in the `80s. Paul somehow travels from his home to were Solamand is. Does anyone remember it?

It has been too long since I went to a costume party, but I am not really into the Halloween bar scene. I am looking for: a crowd wearing nice costumes in an interesting venue; something that's kind of special. I am not looking for: "I'll wear a bathrobe and say I'm a Jedi, let's go drinking!" crowds. More Venetian carnival
, less "this fuzzy pimp hat was all that was left at iParty." [more inside]

I'm looking for the best ball and cup magic routine I've ever seen. It was posted on the blue about a year ago. I believe the guy had a beard, and he may have used mugs and music to go with the routine. The amount of variations and throws that he used were mind boggling. My google fu is failing me, hive mind please help.

In a couple months I have to attend my first ever military ball. I do not know much in the way of social expectations of such an event, I guess I'm just supposed to go and look pretty.. which leads to the real question, What do I wear!!!? . Or how I should dress exactly, what are the "norms"...

What did I eat? Fifty years ago, when I was a kid, a friend's Japanese mother made us a snack. She pulled 2 plain, fist sized rice balls from the fridge and sprinkled a dark green, watery sauce on them. It was salty and fishy tasting. It may have had some dark green flecks in it. I've seen nothing like it in Asian markets, and I think it may have been homemade, for it was poured from a wine bottle with a metal liquor spout tube. I've wondered for years.

Looking for the name of a toy I had in the 1970s that had 2 long ropes with handles on both ends, one person would pull their ropes apart and send a football shaped ball with the ropes running through it flying towards the other person. The ball on ours was red, the handles were blue - but who knows, it may have come in different colors. My sister swears it was called the Woosh, but I haven't found it via that name. I want to buy one for my niece & nephew if I can find it - and I think having the name will be the key to locating one. But if you know where I can get one, even better.

My friend agreed for me to full on tackle him... We are in the 10th grade, I outweigh him by probably 80lbs, and he said he would let me do it... Questions: can we get in trouble or suspended?
Im will only be a few feet away, and he will have pillows, a helmet, and will land on some grass, can he (or I) get hurt?
And finally, if one of us DOES get hurt, what will the injurys be?

What's the difference between various types of parties? Why are some called hootenannys, others called hoedowns, still others called mixers, balls, dances, shindigs, etc? Can anyone point me towards a (semi-serious, or totally facetious... either one would be valuable) list or comparison of various types of parties? Bonus points for descriptions of linguistic / dialectical differences.

I use to play a pretty simple game on an old computer of mine - I even played it once on a game boy. I can not recall the name of it but the play is simple. You control an arrow that can move forward, back, left & right the object is to move this arrow and connect the line you produce before a ball that is bouncing around touches you. You advance to the next level when you cover a specific amount of the given area.. 50 % 60 % etc .. as you move up the rankings they add more bouncing balls to make the game harder.. What is the name (s) of this game?! and are there any free versions out there for my PC and or Treo 650.
