I have a small network of 3 computers at home which connect wireless to a router. Plugged into this router is a Netgear sc101 NAS type device. What I’m looking for is another device that will back up the contents of the sc101 so it can be taken off site. I don’t want to have to do a full backup each time just backup files that have changed or are new is this possible? if so could someone recommend a solution ?

My group at work needs access to a file which I maintain and vice versa. We'd like to keep the files on our own laptops so we can edit them whenever, but maintain a regularly updated copy on a server share to which we all have access.

I've recently decided to backup all of my photographs onto DVD. But I'm concerned about stuff like data recovery, scratches, etc. So I figured I could add some .par files to the DVD, to be on the safe side. Trouble is, I've never used .par files before.

Maybe obvious backup question: I want to achieve: an external hard drive with an exact copy of my main drive's contents that can, in the event of my main internal drive's failure, be swapped into the machine for instant everything-as-it-was. I also want incremental backup, so that I can keep this drive constantly up to date with a daily backup process. This is a Windows XP ThinkPad laptop; I've got the external backup drive in its little case already.

I use Carbonite to backup my home machine, and recently purchased an external hard drive. Carbonite does not backup external hard drives (as I found out after the fact), so I am trying to find a way to make Carbonite think that the external drive is just another folder off of my C: drive. Is this possible?
